Vincent SDents all over U-Haul. Inside was dirty. Was parked in a location that was difficult to get out of.
Kerri HDropped off equipment on a Saturday while they were closed. Location opened at 7:00am on Monday. About noon I called location to confirm receipt but there was no answer and was auto transferred to UHaul national call center. National call center said they could not help me and I would have to just keep calling the location a hope the answer (National did provide me with the Regional center in that area). I called the regional center. They were friendly and wanted to help but they said contact would need to be made with the specific location. They called the location with no answer. They send an email and a text to the location asking them to confirm receipt and close out ticket. 1.5 hours later I called the regional again because I hadn't received any confirmation and the location still wasn't answering phone. The called location and asked the to confirm and clear the ticket. 1.5 hours later after not hearing anything I call the location they did answer and a very pleasant man side his manager was taking care of closing my contract. Then 2 hours later I final received and email confirming receipt and closure of the contract (at 6:30pm just 30 minutes before they were to close for the day). From the time they opened that day until the time it was 11.5 hours before they acknowledge my return. To get thing rental closed out - I had to make 18 answered call to the location; one conversation with National service, two conversations with Regional service, One conversation with the location, and 6.5 hours from when I started chasing and 11.5 hour from when they opened (with my trailer sitting in their return lanes) to get a confirmation of receipt and closure.

Scott N | Overall ExperienceWent to drop the trailer off and parked under the marked canopy for returns, which states remain in your vehicle and an associate would be out to finalize your return in which i did. I waited and waited and ended up going in and I was told to detach the trailer and leave it there, again I was not even offered any assistance in detaching the trailer nor I didn’t receive any paperwork from my drop off, but later I did get an email reflecting my return. A very unfriendly staff they have working that apparently is afraid to work in the heat!

Raymond GU-Haul stores are typically understaffed. This is the only reason I would not give an excellent rating. Wait time is generally long at month's end. The young manager knew his stuff and was working hard.
JON WI’ve rented from this location before, but this time did not go as as well as as it has in the past. The person that was working, the desk was distracted every time I needed him. He was with another customer when I checked in to get my truck which I understand, but I had to come back because my two dollies that I ordered were not on the truck… He was outside again. I don’t know if he was on break or what but he just pointed in the direction of the other building and said to look for so-and-so and she would help me out… Never did locate that person. I went back across the street to my storage unit loaded a few things. I was hot, frustrated, I decided to take just a small load that day and return in the morning. When I returned, there was a different person working who had absolutely no sense of urgency about him… he was the only one working and I had to wait quite a while to get the two dollies that I had previously ordered… his body language, the speed in which he took care of things, etc. Gave off the message that he was completely miserable …. reminded me of Eeyore. Not a good look when you’re in a customer service position. I have had two rental units there for over a year and have rented trucks multiple times… so I have spent my fair share of money there. But even if it was my first visit, I would expect much better customer service then what I received on those two days.

James GStart being honest upfront. I rented a truck last night. Brought it back a couple hours after I rented it. And see my card was charged a overnight fee of 20.00. They didn't tell me there would be a extra fee never said one word. If they would have I would have waited till today to rent the truck. Makes no sense charging a 20.00 fee cuz the truck was dropped off after hours . They were not upfront on the fee. I called today was told to please hold I hung up after waiting 20mn

ESTI Y | First ImpressionsTo answer the question would I recommend this U-haul storage facility no does not even come close to answering it the answer is f*** no this has been the most horrible experience I have ever had with a storage facility. The only reason I only tried this facility was because the first month was free. When I first got my unit, I had no directions on how to get into the building I had no communication from anyone on where my unit was or anything and there was a rodent trap in it which really turned me off but because it was free I went ahead and tried it. I paid for my second month and when I went to go in during my second month there was a red tag lock on it and my unit had been paid for and I had not broken any of the lease violations I had gone in after office hours so I could not get an answer as to why I had been locked out of my unit there was no note on my account so the 24-hour customer service couldn't give me an answer on to why I had been locked out of my unit. Come that Monday morning we find out that to secure the storage unit doors you have to use your foot to lock the door down which we were never informed of so the whole time my stuff was in the storage unit my unit had never been locked or secure so I will never come back to this storage facility or recommend this U-Haul storage facility.

The return area was clearly marked, and there was a secure drop box available for the keys since I returned the truck after 8:00 PM on Saturday. By Sunday, I had already received an email confirming the truck had been checked in, and my card was charged the discounted rate we were quoted. I also had a small additional mileage charge of about $23 because I went slightly over the allotted miles, which was completely fair and clearly explained. Overall, this was a great experience from start to finish. The staff was helpful, the pricing was transparent, and the entire rental process exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this service to anyone needing a rental truck. Excellent customer service!

Dyan FThe U Haul employee hooked me up and checked the lights. Less than two miles after I left the location the trailer lights stopped working properly. One of the running lights was not properly seeded in it's gasket and it was raining which is what may have created the problem. The trailer was also not water tight. It leaked and ruined two boxes of things that I had in the trailer.

Then when time to get into my storage, everything paid, the lock wasn't removed. I waited three hours for my lock to be removed days after it was paid in full. Other than that, it's great

camilo sDidn't have the truck or trailer that was "reserved". The workers at the Des Moines,IA location on Hubbell that the first truck was picked up from have to be the worst I've encountered. No customer service skills at all, too worried about their own personal conversations. 2 people just standing around doing nothing while telling customers they can't help cause they don't work up here. Keegan was the only person who was nice and spoke to customers. Half way through my move the truck broke down and I had to wait 2 hours for a tow and replacement truck.

gladys w | Overall Experience1. The store was supposed to open at 9am and the employee came screeching into a parking spot at almost 9:30am. With people in a lineup waiting. 2. The employee was very rude to me as well as other costumers that had been waiting. 3. I am disabled and walking around hurts a lot for me. I should not have to go find my own U-Haul by walking around the whole campus. 4. If using the online check in, and your cellphone isn't getting good reception, one should not be told to just go outside the building until it works. Especially if there is a guest wifi they can use. 5. Also if you have never used the online check in process, it would have been nice for the employee to help, instead a nice guy in the line waiting helped me out. I have never had such a bad experience renting a U-Haul before, I wish I could remember the employee's name, but I can't.

RODNEY MUHaul has a serious customer service issue. I was treated badly by UHaul from Wednesday July 29th- 08/1/2026. Some of UHaul's staff were very unprofessional. I was given a 26 truck that had a leak from the top. This resulted most of my family's and personal belongings being wet and damaged from the rain. UHaul had me running around because the equipment could not be found at the designated address of UHaul. UHaul went into my account and took money from me with a false justification. I have contacted my lawyer to seek redress.

We, as customers, had to drive to another location to pick up a working wiring connection in order to receive our reserved trailer. Unacceptable and very unprofessional.

Brittney DMy experience here was very poor. My mother had been renting a storage unit as she had to move states although still needed to store some home items that I am helping sell. I went there to pick up an item and they told me the unit had been cancelled and was showing as vacant. My mom had never cancelled or been notified of this. The three working there had very little knowledge and were not helpful when it came to my experience and frustrations. I asked what happens when this occurs and one of the associates told me the stuff that gets left gets taken to the dump. I asked them to still help me look if the items were the storage still and the other associate complained and said they will clock back in even though they have somewhere to be. I thanked him and he was at least kind about bringing me to the unit. Thankfully, all of the stuff was still in the unit. I had to book it under my identity due to my mom being in another state. Now I will have to scramble to get everything out of there as I have little trust that their operations are sound and my mom’s belongings are safe.

So now I have to scramble to get my 2 units cleaned out and moved to the opposite side of the building and throw that Junes payment down the drain. We're a nonprofit school organization. Even when the staff are busy they take time to assist agitated humans with issues that are not perceived as responsibility of uhaul staffing. And several others over the years of my rental needs have served me well. I have witnessed some very interesting humans with some complications, uhaul staffers go beyond what I would consider duty, in resolving the issues... Please be sure that you recognize Carter, Michael and Christina for that extra effort... in dealing with unruly humans.. I've rented weekly for the last month and I appreciate them.

It would have been very helpful if the manager that contacted me re an item left in unit had reminded me to 1) photograph emptied unit and 2) return the lock/key at closing at the same time. Although there were multiple staff on-site, apparently only one person, Carter B., was authorized to assist me. I became frustrated having to drive back in the rain for photo, and again to retrieve lock. I suggested the clerk find my account using my name, as I did not recall unit # at the time. He threatened to not complete the closeout because he did not appreciate my frustration and accused me of shouting a response to a question he shouted to me. I strongly suggest de-escalation tips to all public facing staff in addition to basic customer service. All staff interactions were very positive, with the exception of Carter B, the name on Move Out Record.

Nathon E | Overall ExperienceThe storage facility had an electrical issue and had water pipe freeze caused water to go everywhere... received a text informing that my unit may have some damages due to the water, asking me if I could come in and check it out or if I would like them in my behalf. I responded back told them I would be in to inspect things. So the following day I went and checked things out and decided I was satisfied nothing was damaged and told them I was OK with everything locked my unit and left. The next day I got another message from them saying there insurance adjusters were leaving that night and needed to know about damages, again I messaged them back told them everything was good. 2 days later I went in to grab something from my unit just to find my unit empty... they had cut the lock on my unit and moved my stuff across the building. They left a box of my stuff sitting in the hallway outside of my unit, not to mention I had missing items, broken items, and a storage unit that looked like a toddler packed the items in it. Shelves stacked on top of totes and other shelves a half empty red bull can laying on the top of a shelve that had spilled all over antique furniture. Not professional at all... if you're doing to move somebody's stuff without there approval at least you should do it carefully without breaking stuff and packing it in such a sloppy matter...
Charles Y | Overall ExperienceUpon renting the storage unit I was unaware that my direct deposit of my income would be a little bit later than expected and every month I was charged for a late fee and actually one month I was charged for two late fees. Prior to this when I became aware of the overlap I went to the office in person and I tried to discuss this and asked if my payment date could be moved out just a couple days and I was told that they were unable to accommodate my request so there for I was charged for late fees every month and I have to wait for the Social Security Administration to deposit my payments. I believe I should have been able to get my request accepted and avoided your late fees. Though since she said I was unable to push my due date out I believe it was intentional on your part that I was charged for late fees when we could have spared me two days you wouldn't accommodate and you knew I would have to pay for the late fees. I was threatened to be evicted as well but as I said two days later I paid my bill. This is highly discouraging and I don't think I will be able to rent at your facility ever again. Thanks for the extra charges that could have and should have been avoided as far as I'm concerned.

I had to remove my items from storage, and replace over $1000 in items due to rodent feces, and rodents building nest in my children’s items, employees had zero work ethic, respect for their customers was awful, and even if you mention problems to them they would let it slide. Overall experience 0/10 I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. HR needs to work on their business and fire a lot of people. Scummy assholes.

HAZEL b | First ImpressionsI paid over $1200 to rent a uhaul and move my belongings from Iowa to Texas with my in March of 2024. When I came to.retrive my things, I was told I could not because my account was delinquent. After going over the account I found out my payments had been going on the wrong account. So it took 2 days for this to be fixed and for them to call and tell me I could retrieve my things from the unit. Mind you I had to start a new job in Texas so I had no choice but to leave without my belongings. I couldn't wait for them to fix this. So uhaul in Texas gave me a $500 credit that went towards paying for my unit. I spent over $1200 on the uhaul that I was not able to even use, plus the cost of gas to goto Texas. My mother became ill in August so I was forced to have to move back to Iowa to care for her. I resigned from my job in Texas and was not working after that. She passed away in November. I was not able to make payments on my unit. I did keep in contact with the uhaul place. I received an email saying they were going to sell my locker! I reached out and was told that he would not be selling it. Now I relieved a email saying they sold my unit for $10. I have made many attempts to contact the manager and haven't even received a call back! All of my belongings and my child's belongings were in that unit. Things my mother gave me to pass on to my daughters, and its all gone without even a call back from them. I am completely devastated that I was unable to retrieve my belongings due to and error on their part to begin with, and now everything we owned is gone! How unprofessional and just plain distasteful for them to treat anyone this way.

I was so frustrated I told the lady that was on the phone with me that I was going to broke the little lock that was at the garage door then she told me they will charge me with criminal activity. I just couldn’t believe it. The rental guy was so mad . They had to rent me one of their garage to put my things I had to pay 300 dollars last night. And then tomorrow he has to move my stuff again from his garage to the storage and I am going to pay extra money again. I had a very bad experience yesterday

And I had thought I would be getting a refund of December charges but still haven't received any news on that happening. I have emailed and called several times and they still seem to think my stuff is there. !!!! I've been threatened with a lien and a bad rating on my credit and prosecution and garnishment for money I don't owe. If I receive anything but a months refund I'm taking it to my lawyer and seeing about filing harassment against uhaul. Send me my money and call it a day!!

Tried talking to them about why my rates kept going up because when I first went there when it was cube smart. It was $78 and I ended up leaving and it was supposed to go up to $126 and I was only there for a year and a half. Bathroom was never clean or stocked when I was there. Was never given a key to get in. Was never given a code to get in so I waited on the phone for an hour to find out why I didn’t get a code to check in or out and what it was. The units themselves are nice for sure. But nothing else.

One of the overhead doors to the west loading bay wouldn’t open two different times when I pulled up, fortunately the others were ok. An “occupied” light would be nice there. Some loading spots out front are blocked by stuff on the sidewalk and the curb there makes things harder than they need to be. Dealing with the city is a whole thing I know, but those driveways onto Hubbell are terrible! Cleanliness was ok but sometimes saw the same dirt in the aisles across several visits, and the main entry collects stuff that’s not “gently” used and sometimes in the way. Access to a dumpster on site, maybe with an extra fee or for a cleanup day each month, would be really great. Staff were friendly to me! They seemed to be dealing with irritated customers a lot when I was in there. Hugs to them. Thank you! Happy with my stay and hope this comes across as constructive :)

After 10 pm, your door code doesn’t work and you get locked out. Like wow. Not at all 24-7. You guys should have made that a little more clear when signing up that I would have restricted access. I would have gone somewhere else.

Prasad M | First ImpressionsOne thing that really annoyed me when I lost my key to my lock was the fact that the first person I had a whole crew of people when I was going to move out come over on a Saturday and the people there said well you can't cut your lock off your locker unit and we will not do it either you have to hire a locksmith well that's kind of funny the next day after consulting with a locksmith and how they would do it because I know people that are locksmiths I attempted to draw out my lock cuz that's the way they would do it somebody from your unit your storage facility decided oh well you're not doing it right I'm just going to come over with a soul and cut it off for you and he said well we'll we normally charge $50 for this oh okay well the first person told me you wouldn't even do it so basically I had a whole crew there on a day that I could have had all my stuff out two days before it was due and you the communication there that people don't know what's going on and that's just not convenient on top of that if you're laid in your storage unit by one day you're charged 100 bucks $50 for a lien fee and $50 for a late fee which is more than what the price on the rental unit was they're asking me about my experience

Come to find out, he has been gradually getting all of my stuff out of the unit. I never said I wanted anyone else added to my storage unit. I'm not sure why this lists my move out date as the 18th because I did not move out and I don't plan on moving out anytime soon.

On my final move out, I called twice, 6 hours after the first time, to be able to speak to someone because my call wasn't being returned, like the call center person had put in the notes. Then the following afternoon, a young guy called me and acted like there were no notes in from when I spoke the night before. I also had to request for my move out email to be resent because I never received it like they had said I would. A little better communication from the office would be great for the people renting. I understand the call center if the local office is closed but when they're open, that's who people want to talk to.

I was told that I needed to sweep out the unit I moved out of and when I went to move into a unit there was stuff all over the floor and I had to sweep it also. The general manager that I was introduced to at my U-Haul unit was very helpful and accommodating when he was there, and was very disappointed yesterday when I found out he was no longer working there. I don't know those circumstances but I wished he was still there. And when I went to the other U-Haul across the street some girl was jumping around like a little kid behind the counter and it just looked unprofessional.

Juan M | First ImpressionsThe new staff member was struggling a little bit so we weren’t sure about the transaction at the beginning, but the manager stepped in to help and everything went so smoothly after that. The manager was more than helpful and provided us all the info we needed. The only issue I have is that the answers we received from the 800 number when reserving the storage unit (it’s a 20x10) was different than the answer received when I called the local place (10x20 and two 5x10) vs the answer I received when we were there (15x10 and a 5x10). If it was reserved for us as indicated when I initially called, then why was it decided upon arrival? Uhaul corporate needs to do better so local branch doesn’t have to deal with the fallout.

Regardless of the wait, the staff was amazing and when it was your turn, they gave you all the attention needed. The facility was super easy to get in and out of. We even found a lovely plant shelf in the share area. I highly recommend this U-Haul center for all of your moving needs.

I went ahead and (tried ) to take advantage of the free storage unit your app enticed me in doing when I rented the truck and I ended up having to get the truck g or another day because it said incould doneverything online and be to check in at the unit by 10pm Got there at 730pm. Couldnt use the app. Rang the buzzer the man who ansswered told me to call the 800 number at uhaul.com. was yikd it would.be 30 to 45 min. Wait on hold. Waited gor an hour finally hung up. Went duting office hours the next day, the agent checked us in ( took over an hour) even tho I had spent about that much time trying to navigate the u your web site to complete the rental only to find out that the while unit thing was a total waste of over 2 hours.of my life that could of been put to use doing something great! Instead I was left with extra milage (20 or more at 89 cents a mile, an extra days truck rental as I could get into my init to empty the truck so I could return it! And A LOT OF STRESS! the unit still set empty as I had to return the truck by noon today and was unable to access my unit and the agent that was there was unwilling to answer the nick at the door or the buzzer on the wall. I have a video of him sitting at the desk staring at is knocking on the door 5 min. After GE said we were all set. We were not all set because we went to the door put in our access code ( he said he was out of access cards) and it said our unit was disarmed but the slifing doors would not open to let us in.! IT WILL BE A VERY DESPERATE SITUATION BEFORE I WOULD USE UHAUL FOR ANY REASON. FOR A LONG TIME! P.S DONT HAVE THE RESERVATION NUMBER but the storage units location is 2526 Hubble Ave. And I have video of everything I am telling you (tie.. him sitting at the desk and ignoring our numerous call for help

However, bathroom was dirty, used paper towels on floor, no trash bins in bathroom or indoor offloading area. Could have used one or two more carts. No big deals, just had to wait for others to finish before we had a cart. Thanks very much!

I made a payment and it took 2 days for the lock to get taken off of my unit and then the day my payment was due for my next payment there was a lock back on my unit and then I was given until the time the office closed to move out of my unit that I again had to wait for someone to come take the lock off again when I was in my unit just previously that same day. And nobody even called to clarify what was really going on. I called and got sent to customer service which was no help either.

I sprayed cockroach killer each visit and did see mouse traps the last time in the units that the doors were opened, but I will never leave my stuff here again for fear of what I will bring back to my house. I had my stuff here for 4 months and after 2 months the rate went up by $40 a month (about 50%) and no one ever told me that was going to happen, and since I have auto pay, it blindsided me, I was told that was the new rate. Overall a bad experience for me

It feels as though they may be very short-staffed, which is stressful for both staff and customers. I had an exceedingly long wait on multiple occasions prior to my move-in, and noticed that some people walked out, unable to make their purchases. To their credit, the staff remain friendly, professional and helpful so I feel they are doing the best they can under difficult circumstances. I had to pay additional charges from the trucking company that moved me due to the long wait to get checked in. There is some type of construction taking place at this time in the storage area, so I found there is dust in the air. Someone was smoking in the storage area and I am hoping that it is not something that continues as I do not want our belongings to smell like cigarette smoke. The manager/staff assisted me with issues that occurred and I am appreciative of their efforts and satisfied at this time.
