Truck had 109000 miles Worn out wipers and it was raining. Transmission didn’t shift into drive automatically And the steering was very out of alignment and had to constantly move the steering wheel back and forth to keep it in the center of the road. Must keep better maintenance But the price was great

Judith supersteinI was really dissapointed with the entrance at your storage facility. As a customer, I have had a terrible experience trying to get items into the storage unit. I feel it is important to bring this issue to your attention so that it can be addressed and improved for future customers. Firstly, the parking situation is frustrating. Having to park on the street and then walk to the entrance is inconvenient, especially when carrying large or heavy items. Additionally, the double doors at the entrance only open one at a time, causing a bottleneck and making it difficult to maneuver items inside. Furthermore, the door that does open has no way to hold it open, making it challenging to enter with multiple items. Moreover, the sidewalks leading to the entrance are crooked and cracked, making it even more difficult to navigate with a cart or items on wheels. It is also concerning for safety reasons, as someone could potentially trip and get hurt. I understand that the facility is well-maintained and the staff is wonderful, but the entrance on the back of the building is very disappointing. To be honest, if I wasn't in a hurry, I would have canceled my rental and looked for another facility with a more convenient entrance. I believe that the entrance should be a priority for any storage facility, as it is the first point of contact for customers and can greatly affect their overall experience. I hope that you will take my feedback into consideration and make improvements to the entrance of your facility. I value your services, but I cannot overlook the inconvenience and frustration caused by the current entrance situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing back from you and seeing improvements made to the entrance in the future.

Robert FrostMy original pick/drop off location was at 2455 W Devon. When I arrived to this location the person in charged of this location barely spoke English. He had to call someone else over the phone. Then he stated I did not have a reservation, when I showed the reservation number sent to me via email he changed his version and stated there was not a van available a this location. I then got an email and a phone call from a U-Hall representative letting me know that pick up/ drop off locations had been changed to Dempster's ave. in Evanston. This action not only cost me extra money to get an u-ber to take me to the new location but also extra money to pay for the movers. I and demanding to have a full reimbursement of the rental unit.

The original van's paperwork said one thing about the gas amount in the van and that is what I looked at. the van I finally received actually matched the amount of gas in the van as was noted in the original paperwork so I thought nothing about. when I returned it, i stopped and filled up gas to match the amount that I believed was due. when I returned it I was told that it should have been more and was charged $14. I tried explaining what I wrote in this comment and it did not matter. I should not have been charged for more gas let alone at your rate. that was not good customer services.
paula castilloThe staff here are friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to help any customer, no matter which one is officially helping that customer. They communicate well with each other and handle the stress of dealing with stressed customers (everyone is stressed when they're renting a truck, right?). The truck I had was a little worse-for-wear. The driver's side door didn't catch unless it was slammed and steering wheel needs re-wrapped. It did the job!

Merra KokebieOf all the storage facilities in Evanston, U-Haul is number one, not least of which because they also have trucks on site ready to rent. The facility is clean,, secure and well maintained. They also have PLENTY of moving carts available (unlike other facilities I won’t name). The only drawback is lack of parking. I don’t have a car so that’s not an issue — BUT — if you rent a truck and you’re planning on meeting movers or helpers, you should be forewarned that you cannot park on Dempster or on the side street adjacent to U-Haul — so time your meetups accordingly or be prepared to park around the corner on Greenwood and wait. It would help if they had a few designated parking spots available.

Chris GoodThe worst experience ever at a UHaul location! The gentleman that checked me in first thing in thing in the morning did things that I have never seen done before at a Uhaul, I felt like they were accustomed to dealing with criminals and treated me and another customer in that manner. Not only did he secure a copy of my license, but also took my picture with his cell phone. Additionally, the customer who was in front of me came back in for a part that he did not know he needed for his hitch. And was yelled at with profanity by the Uhaul associate and the Uhaul associate threatened to revoke his contract if he did not simmer down. Now the customer was not using profanity, he was just in a hurry and expressing his frustration. As I was also frustrated with this associated behavior in front of me. I will go out of my way in the future to not use this location again even though it's less than a mile away. Will either go out of my way or use a different moving company all together. Plus, no one told me during the reservation process that the mileage was double the price on Friday and Saturday. So this move cost me more than I had budgeted.

Don DurkesI reserved a 15' truck weeks in advanced for Saturday Jan 27th. I went to this location on Thursday to make sure the truck I needed would be ready by 7:30 AM. U-Haul headquarters double booked the truck I needed and when I arrived on Saturday morning, it was gone. It was sold to another person. I then had to take a truck that would need to be driven back to Evanston. I had to pay double. I needed a truck only one way. Also, less than a 1/4 tank was in the truck, 17 miles left in the truck. We returned the truck with 1/2 tank and got a credit on our bill. The men at this location were very professional and kind. U-Haul the headquarters was the problem.

The windshield was completely frosted over and I had to go and get the scraper out of my car in order to be able to leave in a reasonable amount of time.

Melissa SchleicherI would not recommend this facility. The unit itself was fine, though it was very inconvenient to go up and down a flight of stairs while hauling heavy items. There is no parking in the lot, and staff were rude about us parking temporarily to check in. My partner and I had rented a truck to move the items out of my unit. We were unable to e-check in for our rental and had to go in to the office. Staff were more concerned with personal phone calls and conversations than trying to check in guests. The truck we were given had broken glass, a straight razor blade and various nails and screws in the back and on the ramp. The parking lot was littered with similar items and smelled strongly of vomit while picking up our truck. The mobile check out process for the actual unit was easy and convenient.

However, beware! Never get a unit without insurance. I lost valuables without any compensation. Purchase Insurance!!!!
