The location and staff were excellent. The trucks I rented were VERY far into their useful life. I would not have used one of the trucks for an actual move (I was just picking up a fridge in this instance). I think this is more of a U-haul corporate thing about when trucks get rotated out; I'll just say it was very noticeable the age, wear, and tear of the trucks. They were clean for me though.
Isaac WWe had a terrible experience with uhaul. First, the phone call that the location that let me reserve a truck 4 weeks in advance doesn't actually have the truck I need. No problem, I'll drive an extra 10 minutes, no big deal. They confirmed 36 moving blankets, and 2 handtrucks. The next day, they have 5 moving blankets for us and zero hand trucks. Really fun to wake up at 6am on moving day to go to Menards to buy $150 of moving supplies because uhaul sucks. Next, we have to go back on moving day to get a trailer. Terrible line and chaos but it's our fault we didn't have enough room so I am not even mad about that. I am mad that the trailer they reserved for us, they made the drop-off location different than the drop-off location for our truck. Which means we had to account for gas in the uhaul that we only needed to use because we were dropping the trailer off at a second location, probably for the convenience of uhaul and their subsequent rentals.
Alicia HThis location is always busy and has extremely poor access. The staff is good but the location sucks!
Terry AEquipment reserved was not available, fuel level was not properly marked, inexperienced staff when checking in, long wait line when returning rental, on-line app was also glitchy. Truck made a terrible noise going down the road which appeared to be from the front spoiler that was not properly maintained. Overall got the job done, but the experience was below average.
Mike MSome indication of where the key drop is for after hours. I searched high and low for that thing and nearly dropped the keys through a slot on the garage door—which was not the right place. The key for the truck had barely unlocked the door and I was afraid to turn it harder and thought the key might get stuck in the halfway position. Truck makes a fairly loud vibration going over 60 on the hwy, but ran perfectly in town.
AARON SWaited in line for awhile to be assisted and there were people behind me waiting. However, the service was nice and friendly.
Scott PThe parking lot was very crowded both for picking up and dropping off. Dropping off was confusing because I had no idea where to park the truck. I just stopped and went inside where I was told to give her the key and I was done. Easy but confusing.
Charles RI didn’t feel safe driving the truck. I was assigned a truck with a headlight out and a tire pressure sensor light on. Are there check-ins to see if the vehicle is ready to be operated?
JOSHUA AThe computer system was down when i came into the store. It took over an hour to check out the equipment. The staff was very patient and handled the situation very well.
louis bThe staff was great, but I couldn't reach the store when I tried to call multiple times during the day. I was in a constant loop of press 1, 2 or 3 and it just continued no matter what button I pushed. Ultimately it transferred me to the national help line. It was frustrating not to be able to reach the store to tell them the radio in the truck didn't work. I also tried to call to say I would return an hour later than expected but could never reach anyone. I think this is a Uhaul problem in general and I don't blame the local staff.
MARCIA KVery busy and could not check in my U-haul. They said the system was down and to just leave the key. I tried to return it on my app and she said not to do it because that’s what was slowing down their system. My truck got checked in the next day.
DeAnna HEmployee would not respond to clarify which trailer that was outside the trailer I was getting. She only told me the size of trailer I was getting. I was worried that the height of the trailer I was getting was not tall enough. The dimensions she gave was only length and width.
Phillip DThe drop off in greenwood ar was excellent the Kansas location was horrible
Robert GHello, We waited 2 hours 15 minutes to pick up cargo van on Sat morning that my husband and I had reserved in person with Arminta on Thurs 28 of May. Problem was your entire ( I assume) system at this location was DOWN! Fix that in the future! But, Arminta was superb in her handling of the 30 or so people in front of us in the eternal LINE, she got the JOB done and we brought the Van back 2 hours and 15 min later, Ironic! Kyra was also excellent in the Customer Service Dept and a sweetheart just like Arminta! Thank you, and Cherry Reed PS his name on contract, I paid for equipment. CMR
Rodney TWaited for an hour along with other frustrated customers.
JOSHUA BI think you could use some more counter staff. There was always a line of people waiting to be helped by the one customer service person - weekdays and weekend. This in the one detriment to this location. Thank you,
Michael HMade the reservation online. Was told U-Haul would contact me due to me having it for 2 days. Turns out it was because the location near my house that I said they had it when I made my reservation actually didn’t. So if I wanted what I reserved I would have to have a 20 minute drive which equals 15 miles. They charge per freaking mile so lost an extra $50. My pickup time was 12. Was there a little early but had to wait in line for 45 minutes (tbf lady at front desk was working hard just not enough staff). She said she would give me a fuel credit and just bring back at 1/4 of a tank. Surprise, van had a less than a half of a tank. Gas light came on right down the street. Had to add $35 worth of gas. Parking lot was so packed that one of the many employees walking around outside of the office had to move it out. Van drove relatively fine and worked for my purposes but overall was an extremely frustrating experience and I won’t rent a vehicle with them again. Also when we dropped off parking lot was still full, so van was about 3 feet away from a busy street. Made it hard to take the pictures.
Alysse RMy only concerns are likely related to the location/s being extremely short staffed. I feel awful for them, the lines at both U-Haul locations I tried, were long. I waited roughly forty minutes at the 78th and Metcalf location. It was actually the reason the first location (near 159th and Metcalf) ran out of available trucks for rent despite my reservation. Long lines and too few staff members to keep track. Staff was as nice as they could be given the circumstances. So I don't fault them at all. Hopefully they make enough! Otherwise give them raises. They were all stretched super thin with very little time for rental turnover.
Brittany RThe woman working there made the return process so easy. Thank you!
Kendall MWe really appreciated the selection of boxes and items needed for a move, and the staff was great.
Aaron RThe servce of unhooking the trailer and turn in was fast and efficient, Staff was very helpful and friendly
WALTER WGreat experience. Changed truck sizes last minute with no issue. Excellent help on the phone to set things up. Highly recommend. This was our third move in less than three years with U-Haul and we are very pleased.
Tammy WThey were helpful to make sure the trailer was clean and ready for hauling. Very friendly and make sure the paperwork was correct. Very good people to do business with.
Sidney RDid not have my cart and dolly as ordered. No communication only sorry. Big inconvenience.
Paul FI will never return to this location. It’s in very nice suburbs, but does not represent the city well. When I arrived, there was a truck blocking me from pulling in to return my trailer and an employee working there never looked up to acknowledge or help me. She just walked away. I sat there for almost 10 minutes and eventually the truck’s door was closed so I could move past. When returning the trailer, the employee helping me return it didn’t say hello and acted like I was supposed to know what to do. She had me lift off the trailer with her and she let the trailer roll down the hill slam into other U-Haul equipment. She did not seem concerned one bit.
Corbin JThe agent was phenomenal. Best customer service very efficient and super nice. Keep up the good service.
Reyna BVery guick and easy drop off
Randy FThis was by far my worst experience at Uhaul in 3 years
TYLER WBusy morning and the manager was working the counter and the rest of the team was getting vehicles ready as customers came in. Everyone was busy but they were all helpful
JOSE PNot managed well was in line for 44 mins to check out with a reservation. Then after checking out I noticed she upcharge some items that I paid for already, got that fixed and did not catch the extra safetrip fee applied which I did not accept on the original reservation, scammed.
MIKE WThe lady at the desk was very nice, very competent & knowledgeable. Give her 10 stars. But 1 person can’t run the business, you should consider getting more employees. Have her train him and you would have a great machine. The guy who hooked my trailer up was also very good. I had to wait an hour in line at the front desk because so many people were in front of me like three or four. But there were fires outside she had to put out also.
Hugh GAlways have had a great experience at that location.
SALVATORE SPickup process was slow, and rude staff. Return was much better, staff were very professional.
John MSome of the customer service, not all, was very poor. Some were very knowledgeable and helpful, some were not.
James HThe location was incredibly busy and even though i reserved a dolly - they didn't have one when i arrived - so i had to go buy one and have another $80 charge
Rachell WThe overall Customer Service from one individual had to be coaxed out of her. She came across exhausted and tired and projected that onto the customers. Unwilling to find a solution to my reservation not being there other than telling me I can call I another location, come back later or wait in another area of the store until my van showed up, meanwhile trucks the next size up from what I reserved were sitting on the lot. Not a pleasant attitude.
Mark RThere was nearly a 1 hr wait time just to pick up the moving truck, and I ordered a dolly in advance just to be told they were all out of dollys.
Cody SApp is very bad. I picked a drop off place days ago and had to change it for who knows why. Then the hyperlink address took me to the wrong location. App and communications were horrible.
Charles SThere were 2 employees working and a line of about 8-10 people deep. Propane tanks were down. The young lady we had was extremely efficient in getting us out the door when it was our turn in line. We were very surprised how busy it was and that with a reservation it took 30 plus minutes in line.
Melissa SThis was the very worst service I had in a long time. You over booked, I was there much longer than expected. On return no help. A man was renting and after 30 minutes of ME waiting the gentleman was told his rental wasn’t there either. I will avoid renting from you ever again.
MICHELLE GGreat people to work with!
RUSSELL NWhen returning the vehicle I took a photo of the dash board proving mileage and that I had returned it with more gas than I started with. ( I also have a gas receipt) . I noticed that when the hand break was engaged the dash readings disappeared. So I had to release the break to get the photo. Unfortunately I was charged for not filling it. Over $60. Dollars. Please info to the employees who check in vehicles the break must be released for dash readings to present.
Jeanne MThe whole team was very helpful and kind. My son and I each heard a key detail differently about our car tow, though: do we leave the car in N or in P. We started it in P, for about 20 yards, thinking the SUV was FWD, but it turns out it was AWD (I'd forgotten) so then after some terrible smell and noise, we realized we'd made a mistake, shifted it back into N, and then started the trip. We drove it back to the lot for them to double check before we left town, and they were very helpful.
Daniel MVery helpful staff.
Mike LClean out the inside of the vehicles more thoroughly. Update the radios and technology to Bluetooth and cellphone capabilities.
TIMOTHY WFrom desk person to hook up, everyone was helpful and kind! Love this Metcalf location:)
Alysha JI reserved a van and got a truck instead. There was a van in the parking lot but I was given a truck. I didn’t need a giant truck for one piece of furniture. The employee was super nice and professional. Will use you all again but I didn’t want a big truck.
Jennifer CMindy was great to work with. An asset to this location
MARK TFast, Friendly, Pleasant
David SThe vehicle was clean - however it bucks and shakes when it hits 55 mph up to 65 mph I have a video and I was worried it would break down The bucking lessens at 67 but definitely something is wrong with the truck. I notified the Uhaul in springfield
RANDY RIt was my first time driving a 26ft Truck and first time driving a 26th truck WITH my personal car on top of a trailer fixed to the back of the 26 ft truck. Ms Arminta Potts was super friendly and gave me all the confidence for driving this truck with a trailer. She also gave me extra blankets to help with loading my furniture (was returned at the drop off location). And she was very good in showing how the trailer and the truck worked independently. I have some concerns about the 26ft truck: 1) The mirrors (on both ends) would not budge and adjust the way I wanted. In the end, I landed using the mirror on my side only (driver's side). This I feel is a HUGE SAFETY concern and the chances of an accident were high. This would result in not only damage but waste of time and money for everyone. The first thing we are taught at the driving school is to adjust the mirrors before you start any vehicle. There's a reason why these rules have been put in force for everyone's safety including the occupants, our vehicle, other vehicle users and gas stations. 2) Whilst driving, every time I took my foot off the accelerator, the truck would make a very loud and 'deafening sound'. It may be alright for short rides but not for rides over 26hrs especially from Kansas to Florida. All 3 of us in the truck had a severe headache at the end of our journey. 3) The truck tank is only filled with gas. Why would you have a gas tank for a 26ft truck (or a 20ft truck) when all the truck stops (with or without trailers) have only diesel pumps. This made it so difficult to pull up at the normal gas station and then having to move around without damaging either the pumps or the truck. The solution here would be, either change to diesel tanks. If not, then put sticky labels on the dashboard giving a list of pump stations with huge trailer/truck facilities. For eg. We have Buc-ees, Love, Philips66 and so on. 4) Why would you give a customer a 1/4 full of gas in the tank?. The normal policy with other industries is to give a full tank and then you would return the vehicle with a full tank. This made it so hard as it was difficult to gauge how much gas would now be required to fill up to reach the 1/4 tank level. Currently the only thing the gauge shows is how many miles now remaining before the tank got empty. But nothing to show how much gas is required to be filled to reach the target of a 1/4 tank. 5) The wiper on the drivers side was not cleaning well. Luckily we experienced only 30-40min light shower in the entire journey. This should be regularly checked along with oil, coolant water, soap water etc. before handing over the truck to the customer. 6) After unhooking the trailer from the truck, it wasn't easy to reverse the 26ft truck in a supermarket as there was no reverse camera. We need reverse cameras especially for huge trucks which are 20ft and 26ft. 7) Finally a lock on the gas tank will help especially when you are parked away somewhere for a long time. The fear of someone siphoning off the gas is reduced with a lock on the gas tank. On the whole, excellent service from Ms. Arminto Potts. Long 20ft and 26th truck, both need to have the above issues addressed.
Sam BMore staffing during peak times
Clay Scounter staff and pickup/checkout/check in staff very courteous and knowledgeable
Lyle WThe manager was doing a great job of checking multiple in at a time on two registers.
Andrew Muhaul moves my belongings from Maine to Kansas. Uhaul was very pleasant to work with and I was very pleased with their service.
