I used the mobile pickup for the first time yesterday, and just to make sure it goes on smoothly, I went to the location when it was still open. When I went there, the truck wasn't located in the place where it should be, and the key wasn't located in the lock box. It was difficult to know where to go when I picked up and when I dropped off my trailer. There is an entrance clearly marked for customers, but when you walk in, the clerks are at desks on the far right, behind stacks of boxes and there are no indications that I saw that that's where you needed to go. After getting checked out I was told to go outside where someone would help me, but there was no one near the door. I had to walk around the building to the right to find someone and then interrupt their discussion to get helped. Once they saw me wandering, they were very polite, helpful, and efficient, and got me on my way very quickly. When I returned, there was no indication of where to go. One of the same helpful people from the day before happened to be driving a truck past and stopped to ask if I was returning my trailer and told me where to take it. So, I found the staff, especially the people who hooked up my trailer and unhooked it when I returned, were extremely polite and helpful, and I had no problems with the trailer I rented. But the addition of some decent signage and clearer direction from the desk clerk to let you know where you need to go would have made the experience better.TYLER D.

Don't give one way trucks to anyone without cruise control. Also when a box truck like mine that was rented was involved in an accident and the alignment is jacked up and steering isn't right, don't rent those out. Ridiculous my entire experience was crap. The driver's side mirror was angled facing the ground and could not be adjusted. I was assigned EIGHT different trucks before I found one appropriate. We were given a truck with a key broken in the ignition, and the replacement for that truck had low tire warning light in addition to a check engine and check transmission lights on. We had to demand another truck even though a staff member drove up the one with the check trans light on and felt it was appropriate. Finally got the eighth truck and the visor was broken, but we used it because we had been there for an HOUR AND A HALF already and were running late for the movers. 1) Explain after hours drop off charge when making a reservation and picking up. I found one on my final contract and no one told me to expect this fee ever. 2) Help customers one at a time. While renting a trailer, I said I needed the receiver and ball. The guy told me to just go grab oneâ€¦ â€œany one should workâ€ was the guidance I got. I went to do that and he started renting to someone else. So I stood there for 10 minutes waiting to get rung up for my receiver. 3) Answer the phone. I called and went through your phone tree for 50 min. Your contact center is awful. This location never answered the phone. I am very upset with my experience. My U-Haul Contract is 26530298. I had reserved a 26' truck and had a guarantee that the truck would be available. When I arrived, my 26' truck was not available, and I was only able to take a 20' truck. The 20' truck was not big enough and I had to change plans to make another trip to move my belongings. The location was great, but overall uhaul experience was absolutely horrible. The only stressful part of my move was dealing with Uhaul. Two days before my move, I got a call that I was being moved to a location 30 minutes away to pickup the truck. Then later that day I get a call it will need to be picked up at an hour away from where I originally requested. Then the night before my reservation I got a call that there were no trucks in Chicago available for me. Luckily after spending an hour of my Friday night on the phone it was figured out. I have never been able to rely on uhaul when I needed them and they are the most stressful part of moving for me each time.Edward K.

I had confirmed U-Box delivery weeks ago. I was called the NIGHT BEFORE the scheduled delivery and told they could not deliver the boxes. I then had to change all of my moving plans, as I work full time, and had work scheduled all week following the move. To add insult to injury, I was charged for storage by Uhaul due to their scheduling error. Since they couldn't deliver the U-Boxes, they charged me over $160 to store the boxes -- again, due to their own mistake. I have already disputed these charges and require a full refund. We were struggling to access the site to return our truck. A UHaul employee was all but useless when we asked for help. He just told us to take pictures and leave; there was nothing he could do. We inadvertently locked the keys in the truck. We could not get a human being on the phone at UHaul and two employees leaving work literally ignored my husband as he asked what to do, walking away from him without even acknowledging him. Without being able to get answers from anyone, we contracted our roadside service. If I had a way to report these employees, I would. But, they were walking too quickly away from us to get names. They should be ashamed and UHaul on N Kenzie Avenue should fire both of them. This rating is coming from someone who ALWAYS gives people the benefit of the doubt. Although the facility was satisfactory-the rates were high. I only used the space for a month or so and started seeking other locations because the $97 rate was going to strain me due to my recent unemployment. I found a similar space down the street that was $61 cheaper. The staff at this location we’re also not cordial or friendly. Their demeanor was more like,”I’m just here to do my job. While the staff apologized for their errors, the service experience was poor. I prepped and reserved those two services online to speed up my visit on site but my visit took longer than expected due to some errors at the front desk. After my initial check in the storage unit process was not completed. I was also directed to a unit number that was in use by mistake. Not a great customer service experience. A side note: during my visit the U-haul reps were not wearing their face masks. They were however behind their plexiglass desk shields. I was disappointed with how the staff is handling covid. There is a sign requiring masks in the storefront but I only saw one employee wearing a mask. Also we had taken the time to pre-register with our drivers license info. But when we came in to pick up keys, the staff was not able to load our reservation (problems with the network, they said) so they had to do it all over again.
