The past few months I've gone through the most difficult time in my life. I am so very grateful for the staff and manager Alex for their patience and understanding. I had my move valuable possessions in those storage rooms and to loose my family photos and items that we irreplaceable. It would have broke my heart to loose my family history. Thankfully my brother took care of the bill and removed my belongings so I didn't loose them. Alex was amazing to hold my lockers for me. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. Don't forget to mention fuel levels and to make sure it's topped up to that level. The truck I rented had a quarter tank and I didn't get a contract printed out so I had no clue how much gas was in there when I left the lot. Of course I was so busy and forgot to check the gas level and had to call the office to find out. Would be much easier if it was told to me before I left. The lights turn off too fast , I wanted to sort the unit for transport and it turned off too fast to be productive, they should have a system or a way to keep light on and get turned off in unit remotely . Maybe with swipe card . The unit and over all facility is very clean the lighting is bright but turns off too fast to work or organize unit. , For me . Staff is friendly and courteous. Carts being used by the customers are always not available everytime I go to the storage facility because they are very limited. I stated the the experience was Above Average because the Staff were very helpful and receptive in the office. The Manager was very helpful and wanted you to have a good experience as well as the other employees, and I would of but I felt unsafe at one point when there were persons on site that I observed were not suppossed to be there, but seem to be accessing the building. For me as a female and a senior I did not feel safe during that time, I had to change the time that I came to the storage and made sure that I was not alone to remove my items and organize my storage unit for when they were to be pickup, I then started to come when I knew the staff was on site and there are cameras. This was very inconvienent for me because my transport was not always availble during the day.That is why I mentioned for staff or secuity to be on site longer hours. Customers sign a contrat and have a liability to use the facility as specified, the U HAUL Company are obligated by contract and should also provide the same. I observed that there were changes to keep the doors closed and the facility secure, but at that point I just wanted to remove my items because I started to feel uneasy and safe not knowing if unauthorized persons were in the facility, I had to select my times to be there which was not when I had transport to pick my items unfortunately. I would recommend the U Haul to others but I would tell them of my experince with the hopes that changes will be made so this is not their experience. Your facility is very clean, large spacious, access to a washroom, security cameras and a variety of storage locker sizes to choose from. I wished the lights would of stayed on longer, I felt uneasy when they were turning off so fast it is very dark and when there are other people in the storage you want to feel safe, being in the dark I did not feeling safe, I think that you have to seriously consider that.persons will be need to use the storage and the lights should be on longer, maybe it should be activated by the swipe card, that indicates the customers are in there units working or organizing. Unless there are some of these changes and considerations, I hesitate to use the U Haul facility.celina c. | Overall Experience

I booked a truck with moving mats and utility dolly 6 days in advance. When I picked up the truck, the mats and dolly were not in the back. The U-Haul employee we checked in with gave us mats but said no dollys were available, other customers had them. We needed to have one so she went looking and said there were none. I asked to borrow one that they have on sale, and she said to talk to the manager. I went in to talk to the manager, and while I was asking him to borrow one that was on sale, the employee walked in and the manager said to her "I told you to give them the silver one." She said that she couldn't find it, but she went to look again and she did find it for us. The manager mentioned that it was the store's own dolly, not a U-Haul dolly, so U-Haul had no liability for its use. This is no way to run a store - if somebody reserves something it has to be there. The whole experience made us almost 30 minutes late. Also, we were originally picking up the truck at 1:30 pm for a 6-hour period, returning it at 7:30 pm. When asked what to do with the truck afterwards, the employee told us to park it under an awning which is (I think) where they clean the trucks. She that other vehicles may be parked there so we should park behind them in line. The store closed at 7:00 pm. We brought the truck back at around 7:20 pm and there was one vehicle under the awning so we parked behind it as she said, and I was going to put the keys in the drop box when another employee came out and said "you can't park there, we are closed. You have to follow the after-hours drop-off process in the app." I had no problem doing that. The problem is that the first employee was giving out incorrect information - she should have told us to follow the after-hours process unless we were back before they closed. I don't mind renting from U-Haul in the future if I need to, but I would not go back to that location.Brad W.

Was offered a different trailer that my car didn't have enough towing capacity. So had to take a van, which I could have gotten at the original location. And cost way way way more in kms. I considered bad customer service when I called to reserved the truck 3 days before And was told that I would be able to obtain an appliance Wheeler. I was surprised to find out that they had none. Which was part of the reason that I rented the truck in the 1st place. What I thought was worse though Is that the employees behind the desk didn't seem to care about my concerns! Reserved equipment was not available or ready to go. Was refunded $7 for a dolly I paid $12 to rent. Was told I would receive a $20 discount due to truck being unavailable and the pickup location changing to one 75km away from original (a rather insignificant sum, but whatever), doesn't look like it was applied. Issues during pickup. Had 169km, used 124 and was charged for extra at drop off. I will note that I did return the vehicle just under an hour late, but my move was delayed by the location chance and complicated by the furniture dolly that was reserved not being available and a smaller truck. Overall, poor experience. Would really love some competition in this space because obviously U-Haul feels zero pressure to provide a good experience.Paulina T.

Truck was not clean, no one seemed to care. Tires unevenly worn indicating possible mechanical problems, no one seemed to care. Hit a major rain storm later in the day, wiper blade fell off in the middle of it - got soaked putting it back on. Steering was vague and unpredictable, harrowing driving through the mountains. Had a load share trailer to drop off in Calgary, did that and the staff assured me it was checked in. Next day received an email asking when I was dropping it off?! I stored my belongings at the 1675 Inkster location in Winnipeg. Recently I started taking things out but the first time I went there the parking lot was being replaced, limiting access to the units which was frustrating. The second time I went, another group was hogging ALL the trolleys. I asked them politely if I could have just one trolley and they declined. I went inside to ask the salespeople if they could help me find a trolley or ask the other group to share one with me. The salespeople were all sitting around chatting and it took a few minutes to get their attention, although NO customers were in the store. When I asked if they could get me a trolley, they said maybe there are some on the second floor, but no one would go with me. They can see on the monitor that there were NO trolleys on the second floor but I went up there to look anyway. I asked if they could ask someone to share their trolley because I came at 4 pm and had waited twenty minutes already for the other group to finish. One of the salespeople said rather bluntly that ‘ I would have to WAIT my turn’ I asked the other salesperson if she could call me when a trolley became available and gave her my phone number because I was pressed for time, had errands to do. She said I can take your number, but I will NOT be able to hold a trolley for you! So that was pointless! In the end she NEVER DID call me when a trolley was available! So I sat in my car for another twenty minutes so a TOTAL of forty minutes, didn’t do any of my other errands, just stressed that because Uhaul was closing at 5 pm that I wouldn’t get to remove my belongings from the unit either and the whole driving trip there would be a waste. Finally I got a cart and raced in and out like a maniac because it was only me loading my stuff and I didn’t want to be charged for the following month. The uhaul storage facility had amazing staff right down to the cleaning lady who went above & beyond to offer us assistance. We discovered our unit was too small & the desk agent was very acvomodating & friendly. A much better experience on this end then at the start with the truck in BC who also put us down for more days then requested. The manager Alexander Chand is a great person who cares about his customers whilst following company rules and regulations steadfast. Alex is very professional yet he is down to earth with his witty comments and jokes. I think this is why when you don't receive the answer you would like you understand and accept the results...because Alex relates to his customers in a down to earth way and is just. He sets a great example for his staff who in turn are very pleasant to interact with and will do whatever they can to help their customers. The Inkster facility is the cleanest I have seen ANYWHERE!
