When I booked, your employee quoted me a specific price and mileage, but when I received the contract, both were different. Furthermore, I was told I could drop off the truck anywhere, which turned out to be false, forcing me to drive an extra hour to return it. Finally, the staff in Montreal were unprofessional, rude, and visibly frustrated with me. I am very disappointed and will never do business with your company again."

patrick nHold equipment rentals for those who reserved them. I reserved a flat pack trolly and a hand cart and upon picking up my rental they mentioned they have neither as they rented them all out. People reserve these items based on parameters for their move so you are screwing over your customers on a super stressful day for them. It's really easy, just look at hand carts rented each day, put them aside, and then rent the ones that aren't reserved until they run out.
Derek FThere was a major issue with the locations computers / server where it took over an hour to check me in and assign me a truck. There was an enormous line and every agent was trying to use both mobile devices and the POS to try and process customers. It was chaos.

Charging a high per-kilometer rate on top of requiring the customer to return the truck with a full tank of gas feels like predatory double-dipping. The baseline marketing does not reflect the actual cost of a standard local trip.
Zied HThe truck was very clean with a fresh coat of paint in the box. Overall I was very satisfied with the exception of the brakes. They were in dire need of service. At highway speeds, stepping on the brake caused the steering wheel to shake violently.
Martin SPlease be advised that I have been a loyal UHaul customer for many years. This after hours pick up is a complete nightmare. I could only imagine my wife and daughter, being put through the experience that I was subjected to Wednesday evening. In a dimly lit parking lot, in a rather rough area of Ottawa, dealing with many departments within the UHaul customer service world. Lock boxes and incorrect codes being sent. Being transferred from department to department. No one available in the area to offer assistance. Complete disregard for the amount of time being spent, (1 hour, 57 minutes), to finally retrieve the keys and finally, a different style of vehicle. Having to return the vehicle 36 hours later, as engine oil was pouring out. Having to now download the UHaul app to complete the booking, while standing in the UHaul parking lot, after dark. Most of this could have been completed well before the pick up time. I will NEVER allow my wife and daughter to be subjected to such an unorganized and, potential dangerous environment. Shame on UHaul. You ought to know better. Oh yes, one more thing. I was not Discounted anything for the terrible inconvenience of having to exchange vehicles, halfway through a very busy, time constricted move. I request a call from a person, will a position of authority within the UHaul organization to call me as soon as possible. You have my phone number on file.

Ismail GThis location was very slow to check customer out. We arrived at 8:45 and did not leave until almost 9:45. When we left there was about 15 people behind. Once person knew what he was doing and the other person in-training. With all the bookings, this location should have planned to get staff to help their customers. Booking time with elevator and loading the U-Haul truck takes time and having to wait to get the truck was not acceptable. I have picked up in Vaughan and they are amazing there.
YVONNE MSmooth check in experience if you book online - makes things a little quicker. Try to ensure you know how far you'll be travelling in order for them to quote you the correct mileage cost. They send a text message for you to take photos of the vehicle before you leave - I got the texts halfway to my pick up location, so take photos of the front, back and sides of the vehicle as well as the odometer and fuel tank for your own peace of mind. When returning, pull into the vehicle drop off zone, and someone there will assess the vehicle and tally your final bill. The steering on both vehicles I've rented so far have been a bit on the loose side, so try and get a bit of practice driving in before setting out, if you're at all nervous!

Yalowan DWe got a one way truck 20ft and when received it only 1/4 full so we had to put gas first to do our moving their systems were down on Victoria day to boot and didnt explain contract at all and offcourse we just had to do our moving cause we lived 2 hours out of town and I told them we were dropping off at a closer location that anticipated was charged another fee for dropping it closer and the rental total fee with gas that i replaced was ridiculous. I should have borrowed my neighbors trailer instead. Definitely not a good experience and the pricing very false and deceiving to what they say online. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM Uhal again and very poor customer service. Too bad cause I have dealt with UHAL for over 40 years.
Cathrine DThe employee who "helped" me was not the least bit competent. I am somewhat surprised he is employed there at all. He spoke french which is fine, but his english was quite difficult to understand. First told me to get my truck and move it to the trailer before finding the trailer; then pointed to the wrong trailer and said, "There it is." I show him the paperwork HE just gave me and point out the trailer number. We find the trailer. I grab the trailer to bring it to my truck since it's quite light. He looks at me dumbfounded. I tell him to grab the trailer in front of me and move it so I can move the one I am holding on to. Instead of lifting the tongue of the trailer and pulling it to the side, he pushed it from the back, scraping the tongue on the pavement. It was now my turn to be dumbfounded! You really can't make this shit up!! Good job U-Haul!
Jean-Yves PThe truck I was given was not road worthy. The starter was fried, it took several attempts to start the truck leaving me very nervous that I was going to end up stranded. The steering was loose and misaligned. When I returned the truck and brought these concerns to the staff they simply stared at me with a bored expression. No concern, no apology, no attempt at a resolution. I’ve debated contacting the BBB and the MTO. In any case, this is my last experience with U-HAUL and I will spend a lifetime encouraging others to rent from enterprise instead.
JOSEPH TAlthough the staff was pleasant and helpful, the vehicle was filthy and stunk of something barnyard awful. It took me 40 minutes to go thorough the checkout process mostly spent waiting in line...so I wasnt about to go back in there after doing the inspection.
James DThe customer service I received was not great from the start. The gentleman that helped me seemed to not want to be there. I also witnessed an incredibly rude interaction from the other staff member toward the customer that was asking for clarification on a couple things. When I informed the atendant that I would need an extra day with the truck, I was assured it would not be an issue. On the day it was originally meant to be returned, I get a call saying I was late returning the truck and there was another reservation that needed it. This was incredibly frustrating because I was assured that there was no issue with keeping it an extra day. On the topic of the truck itself. We were given the key, then left to our own devices. No walk about the truck to make sure everything was in good condition. The interior smelled of cat urine. The auto shut off for the gas tank doesn't work anymore. The suspension is shot. Overall not super awesome. But it got us to our destination

tracy wWhile the service was quick, the location was a bit of a mess, the two people who helped were on their phones literally the entire time that I was there. The person who was unloading the trailer did not even actually look up from their phone once throughout the whole process as they were unhooking the trailer. So, to sum up the experience; it was fast, forgettable, unhelpful, uninformative.

Staff are unfriendly- it's like they don't want to be there. The one lane access is ridiculous. There was a black SUV blocking the entrance way when I arrived so my moving truck couldn't easily access. Apparently the black SUV belonged to the "boss" that's what the guys working outside told me. Billing reminder calls are an insult and the person calling sounds bored and angry. I moved to Dymon Storage as their service and facility is worth the extra $20/month. I will recommend all my friends and colleagues to Dymon Storage rather than U-Haul. I think you should stick to renting trucks. unless one day you get serious about storage. It looks like just a cash grab for U-Haul

I had settled on a final payment for my unit due to negligence to maintenance of their property my property had been damaged! I lost 3 tvs a bunch of artwork clothes covered in mold and all my tools rusted. I should've just let the unit go and allowed it to be their problem but despite my better judgement I agreed to settle on a price and move my belongings out of my unit and terminate my occupancy. Upon going to pay for my settlement price the "general manager" or at least that's what his shirt said was completely ignorant and basically tried to bully me into paying an outrageous price instead of the discussed settled price by trying to strong arm me, he aggressively approached me stating "you're here to pay your full amount and get out" I replied no I'm here to pay my settled amount and nothing more. I had spoken with. A woman by the name of Melanie and she was such a great help and a breath of fresh air during this disgusting encounter. She had discussed a settlement price with me which I went to go pay in full and start moving out my items. They gave me until the 4th of August to remove my items or they will be declared garbage. I assured her I will be out by that day. I arrived today July 30th to remove whatever items I can fit in my car until I have access to a truck this weekend, later today (July 30th) after doing my loads for the day the "general manager" calls and says "uhh yes why is your lock still on our locker you're supposed to move out today" I replied no I have until the 4th to remove my belongings and unlock the unit. does UHaul not train their management staff members on properly talking to the general public as well as basic knowledge on their job? There is no excuse for me to be greeted in such an aggressive manner, there is no excuse for harassing me and contacting me at my private number when they clearly have the information on their system stating I have the unit until the 4th!! Just curious how he got his job position because he is absolutely useless at his job. Offers zero positive marks for customer service experience during my visit, belittled a worker in front of me because they were going to allow me to make sure my belongings were still in there, attempted to strong arm/bully me into paying an outrageous price, had zero knowledge on the situations going on in his location, and now harassing his clients over problems he could quickly find the answer to in my file with u haul! Terrible experience. I will NEVER use uhaul again. They ruined most of my belongings that I cared enough about to pay for storage on and then bullied me when I asked for a solution. Anyone who asks me will be getting referred to another storage facility because this experience was/is just unacceptable. I can't believe I paid you guys 315$ today just to retrieve belongings that were completely ruined by flood damage due to your negligence of maintenance to your facility and the lack of information I was given when I rented the unit! IF THE UNIT FLOODS LET THE RENTER KNOW AT THE TIME OF SIGNING!! NOT 4 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD AFTER YOU HAVE ALREADY DESTROYED THEIR BELONGINGS. I WILL BE SENDING THIS EXACT MESSAGE TO HEAD OFFICE.

The story goes, the day I returned my truck, After i moved out of my home, when I left my husband, he called th3 uhaul asked if hus wife was there with my rental gave my name , the woman on the phone from uhaul tells him yes I'm there, in so doing this she violates uhauls privacy policy with giving out a customers information out to a third party . I never gave permission to have my wearabouts or information given to anyone. I have called corporate several times left many messages and have not been given a call back. Very disappointed 😞 and outraged that I have not even been compensated for the damage that was caused because of this. My husband showed up assaulted a friend and the police had to be called. This was a breach of privacy.

They sent me an update by email on the 15th of the month that I rented and I sent them a update on the 31st stating that I had vacated as I promised. I also told the worker who was outside I had vacated. There was no procedure given and as we buy or own locks there is no reason to return to the facility especially since we were communicating by email and they're completely understaffed and poor customer service inside this facility. They state they ignore the emails and again no notification that they ignore the emails and donnot reply. I also called in to the facility as well. This is illegal and predatory as I am a handicap and this facility should be fined and people arrested especially if they are doing this to other disabled and elderly people.

DENIS R | Overall ExperienceAbsolutely awful customer service — and no maintenance of the grounds what so ever. If anything they made it EVEN HARDER to get to the locker. From not snow plowing after major snow falls, parking rental trucks in front of the entrances and making it nearly impossible to enter the locker area. At one point an employee even had THEIR PERSONAL CAR parked at the only exit of the locker area. Because of the way the entrance to the lockers is set up I hit my truck twice on the side wall. When I first signed up for the locker it took them THREE DAYS because the locker “had a lock on it” even though it was supposed to be empty. They never answered the phone to help me with my issue so I had to repeatedly call — while being obviously hung up on — until someone finally decided to answer in an annoyed voice. Absolutely ridiculous set up and staff is so excruciatingly unhelpful and rude. I could not recommend this location any less than I do.

And in the very heavy rains the water went all the way through the facility. I ended up putting all my stuff up on risers and planned to get out as soon as I could. Having said that, the staff were always helpful and contacted us as soon as it happened.

Picked up truck at 6:30pm explained I'm going to furniture store to get sofa and I'm coming back to get my stuff from the storage and I specifically asked if I'm ok to access the storage after 7pm closing time and I was told that's fine. On my big surprise I couldn't access the storage cuz they put a second lock that I didn't have a key for. Had to turn around and leave plus send home friends that came to help. Next morning I asked manager Ben again why is this happening. His answer was there's no access to the storage after 7pm....the evening before he said opposite. So dear u haul you lost me as a customer forever.

I have been told this is not an isolated incident and that this is entrenched in how Uhaul conducts themselves. I am the Director of Communications for a $15 Billion CPG company and will also be reaching out to my national media contacts across Canada to share my story in hopes that I can save someone else from renting through Uhaul and save them from thousands of dollars in damages, too. On top of not properly maintaining the drainage system at the facility, Uhaul does nothing to mitigate vermin and instead just traps the ones they find, does not dispose of their carcasses, and does not care that they run rampant across the storage facility. Just an absolutely horrendous experience from start to finish.
