I attempted to use the UHaul app for checking out and checking in my truck. The geo-location feature in the app did not work, which is quite frustrating as I use the geo-location feature with many apps on my phone. I was able to use other apps while at the location, so I know it wasn't a case of being a dead spot. The app should provide a feature to test geo-location prior to being present at the pick-up spot. The app can indicate you are not at a pick-up spot, but it would be able to verify this feature works. Fortunately, the staff were very helpful and one of the staff came out to the truck shortly after I arrived in the lot to expedite the check in process.STEVEN F.

I had an absolute nightmare experience with this location. No one at all in house to help with my reservation and absolute chaos, Broken containers full of rat excrement, broken latch that fell off in my hand. I lost a full day of moving along with the people I had hired to help. I made a reservation for an additional box and they weren't even open for business. I currently have 7 pods in 3 different locations and can't get anyone on the phone to help me. No one has answered my emails, sent to 3 different addresses. Despite my hours of planning, it could not have been a worse experience!!coleen T.

My son rented a truck to be picked up after hours. U-Haul messed that up and he was not able to get it at 1:30 AM when he arrived. He had to pay for a hotel even though he had a hotel at another location. They admitted they made a mistake but would not compensate him for the trouble he had. We were not able to reach anyone at the 24/7 hour number on the website. After 45 minutes of being on hold because they were supposedly helping other customers, we assumed they were not a 24 hour help number and hung up. I am HIGHLY disappointed!!JOHN P.

Very unprofessional when i entered store. Rented truck for 2 hours at $50.46 which was fine but ran over 39 minutes.Tried to call but said 41 minute hold time.Got to store 3 people in line for drop off so parked truck and went inside because i thought there may be an additional fee.Young man inside sweeping told me to leave keys on counter and there was no additional fee.Check bank account Sunday and was charged the $50.46 then today i see i was charged an additional $87.59 on the 18th.I call at 7am right when thery open and am on hold for 43 minutes.Im told it was because i dropped the truck off on the 18th which i did not.Called this morning at 7am and was on hold for 43 minutes at which time she told me i was being charged for additional day. I had a bad exchange with the young woman working at the front desk upon returning the vehicle: I do not know her name. She asked can I help you without looking up (disinterested, unhappy, attitude). After waiting in the lot as the sign said, no one came out. I went in to the office. Not a big deal at all. There was noticeable disinterest on her part as a customer, and I asked if she was texting because of her minimal communication. She then snapped a little and immediately showed me the phone, and was sure to put me in my place that she was working on my vehicle. I admit, I did not feel welcome there, she greeted me poorly, and then she was on a phone/device doing whatever, and she was not communicating. Hence , I asked the question. She also laughed at me at the end when I left, after I said TY and have a nice day, and she said absolutely nothing. I then stated she had bad customer service skills for not responding to my attempt to end things well. Hence, the laughing. I have been in customer service in some form or fashion for thirty plus years, and I have to say the attitude with her, and then her coworker (grumpy most likely from whatever she said when she asked him to check the vehicle for whatever reason also), was one of the more uncomfortable exchanges I can recollect from any company. I will not be coming back to this location, and I fell sorry for whomever is managing these employees.JEFFREY G.

My problem wasn't with the location specifically but with u-haul in general. I had reserved a 17 foot truck a couple weeks in advance and received multiple confirmations of my reservation including one, day of. I arrived with plenty of time to spare for my scheduled pick up time. Upon arrival I was notified that there were no more 17 foot trucks and would be none for the whole day. I was given the option of rescheduling, running around town to different locations trying to get the correct truck, or using a smaller truck. My move took twice as long as I had to make 2 trips when I would have only needed one with the correctly sized truck. I had also reserved a dolly and furniture pads. The dolly was also unavailable and although the furniture pads were available I never received any for use. The staff at the location were apologetic and worked with me but they did mention that u-haul double and triple books all the time and this is a frequent problem. What is the point of reserving certain trucks/equipment if it's not going to be available despite the reservation?HEATHER D.

1; first vehicle we were given had ZERO fuel. It said 5 miles to empty. 2. the second vehicle they gave us had 1/4 tank of fuel but smelled so horribly of cigarettes, the seats were ripped and the inside was filthy. We needed the vehicle so we just used it. 3. Staff was helpful but not very motivated to remedy or correct the situation. 4. The lobby of the location also smelled of smoke but not cigarette but weed - staff? 5. Upon return I never received a receipt. The links to report the vehicle condition had expired, I tried calling but sat on hold for so long that I just hung up. Nothing is easy for the customer with UHaul. When we dropped the trailer off the young man who helped us was extremely pleasant and had a super attitude. However he advised me that I would receive a txt message acknowledging the return as soon as he scanned it in. That was at 4pm today and it is after 10 now and still no acknowledgement. My storage experience was good however I felt the access system with the card was faulty. I had difficulties swiping my card and would have to swipe several times. I needed to speak to someone at this location due to and issue with the truck I noticed when I got to my home. The phone prompt had two options: automated hours & directions, and all other concerns, which routed me to the national service line. This is not good service. THIS WAS NOT MY PRIMARY PICK UP POINT - IT WAS SECONDARY TO UHAUL NOT FULFILLING MY RESERVATION AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION. Upon arrival to 2020 W State in Milwaukee to gather my 15' reserved truck - i found that UHAUL had not completed and there was no truck available. My reservation had been changed to St Francis location - WHICH WAS CLOSED!!!!! The three people working there could not give a damn, offered no help and i had to call the 800# and wait on hold for 30 minutest - to get dropped before being transferred to the scheduling department. YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS LOCATION WAS ABYSMAL. I would like to get my money back as the time wasted on the phone, then driving to a different location further away caused me to lose 2 people who were helping us move - thus taking me an additional 3 hours.STEPHEN G.

Was being charged for a trailer I didn't rent took 2 months to clear up. The App for returning equipment dose not seam to work spent 2 hours trying the App and calling consumer support to return the equipment. They even walked me through the App and it still didn't work, and you need to be on site for the App to know your at the location. Maybe a kiosk by the door would work better but, then they won't be able to change $20 for them doing the return the next day. Maybe that's why the App doesn't work all that extra money adds to their profits plus they're raising the rent on storage by $10 per month, with all the storage units they have nationwide that's 100s of thousands per year in more profits and higher cost for every costumers.COREY S.

Rented van, mobile check in gave me a disgusting van with condoms strewn everywhere in the cab. It all had a flat tire. Second van, wipers didn't work. The 4 employees passed the blame around, finally gave me their last van which stunk, had 1/4 tank of gas, and was clearly not cleanedâ€¦the steering wheel was wet with some foul smelling liquid. The staff was INCREDIBLY rude, guy who helped me just burped and texted the whole time. The one who seemed to be in charge, Alexis, was like, well we made a mistake and some other unknown employee didn't do their job properly. We couldn't be more happy with the service we received from the U-Haul facilities on both ends of our cross-country move! Communication between the company and us was always on time; we scheduled our boxes and they arrived on time to be packed; were picked up as scheduled by the same crew that delivered them and the storage/moving process was explained clearly and concisely. It was a great experience from start to finish. Although we don't anticipate doing this again, if the need arises, we'll definitely look to U-Haul to be our moving partner!DEBBIE C.

The pick up location I ended up with was good, however I did not like that I ordered it for oak creek, then it got transferred to St.Francis then the night before it got transferred to Milwaukee. Then when I called the number of the reservation the last I talked with was super rude about it until she actually called the store in St.Francis and found out that they lied and said I asked for it to be changed to Milwaukee when I had not and they just messed something up and didn't want to own up to it.JACOB Z.

I'm a stickler for customer service. The employee (who had a general manager shirt) who helped me was friendly and informative. She was helpful not only to me, but to many others in the main store while another employee was helping outside. As my interaction was starting, the general manager told a different employee that a couple things had to be done and that someone needed propane outside. While it was a very busy and warm day, and I have a lot of empathy for jobs that are dealing with the public, the employee who responded spoke under his breath and was very upset. I could not tell if it was because managing the propane transactions was difficult or if he was rebelling against her leadership. It was disappointing to experience. While employees certainly have a right to complain (who hasn't vented about their job?!?), they could use a reminder not to do it in the main store or in the presence of customers. I will say that, personally, I've received outstanding service every time I've gone to this location. It is why I always go back, despite it being out of my way. Big thanks to those three employees who have worked with me over the last month. They were super!!MARY F.

FILL THE TRUCKS WITH GAS! It sucks when you get something half a tank and we have to guess how much gas will take to bring it back to half. In order to do this we will, invariably, add more gas than we used. It's unfair the customer should pay when a previous customer didn't fill the tank and an employee didn't top if off so you know how much to charge that previous customer for not doing the right thing. Fix this, and you're perfect. Let it keep going this way and you're just lazy and asking someone else to pay for that.CHRIS R.

This facility has went down hill over last 2 years. The staff used to be helpful and knowledgeable which is no longer the case. The manager is still actually helpful and knows what is going on however. When I moved in initially I had reserved a second floor unit. On day of move in with a 21 foot truck of household items, the only elevator was inaccessible as it was being painted, majority inconvenient. The manager did help me find a unit on first floor at higher cost. The facility alarm system constantly went off anytime I would access my unit. Initially the badge reader never worked so I was given a PIN number for access.. however it appears the alarm system had issues this spring and would constantly be going off when accessing unit. I tried calling office however no one answered. I pushed the call box and no one responded, it was literally a ghost town. So I can not say the place was secure during this time as no one responded and the alarms just kept sounding. It seems like alarm system now works properly and disarms again while I was moving out in June. I did mobile check out but also confirmed with staff upon leaving because it seems like Uhaul mobile apps do not work as intended. I went to the location at 1500 South 1st Street on Tuesday May 18th to reserve a storage unit. When I got there on Friday at 6:30 PM with movers who were ready to unload their truck, I was told that there was no record of me in the U-Haul system, and the size unit I needed was unavailable. I ended up having to take a unit at the 611 West Puetz location in Oak Creek. Not ideal, but better than nothing. This delay resulted in the movers going into overtime and leaving with all of my belongings on their truck. I will have to pay a $160 storage fee, and everything will be delivered on Monday. Storage rental was fine, but this was accompanied by a truck rental. I had a reservation that was cancelled for some reason and I went online to reserve again the morning of my move to when I got the cancellation notice and booked again. I got to U-Haul a little early to see if there was a truck available early, which there was not. I was advised to come back at 2:00 because the 26’ truck would be ready. When I got back there was no 26’ truck or 20’ truck. The staff told me they couldn’t help me and offered no explanation why my reservation couldn’t be fulfilled. I had no option other than going with a 10’ truck. That required me to make not 1, but 3 separate trips while moving. 10/10 would NOT recommend using Walkers Point U-Haul reservations.William B. | First Impressions

My lock was cut off by U haul and replaced with out my knowledge. When I asked if they cut my lock off they lied to me I had to pay $100 for a locksmiths to cut off their lock they put on just to find my lock cutoff inside the locker which I took pictures of. I got to the location and asked for help finding my pre-paid locker to which I had to wait over a half hour for and then the staff worker couldn’t find it. He dropped me at the locker and walked away and there was a lock on the locker. Then I had to wait in the line for another hour to get a different locker. I used U-Haul for the primary purpose of renting a van to move my son from Neenah to Port Washington. That went well. I then utilized free rental of a storage space for a 7-8 days before we could move my son into his new living space. The staff encountered technical difficulties and my given code and later a card did not work to gain access to the space. Then after we moved out of the space, after informing the attendant of moving out, I later got late notices for not paying for the next month. After sending an e-mail to the individual who sent me the notice with a copy of the ending of the storage rental, I got another notice regarding a lien on the items in storage (which was none). This time I called to complain and it was then taken care of. My experience started off bad, as the staff member known as JJ, put his information in as emergency contact. I originally had a unit that was to small, I changed it the same day for a bigger unit. My movers notified me that same day that they had put some things in the smaller unit and at this time the office was closed. I wasn't able to gain access to the unit. I spoke with the "then manager" David he stated JJ could get me into the unit, since it had a lock and a note stating access was denied for none payment of rent, which David said the cleaning crew had put on. JJ stated he couldn't get me in because he had never seen the kind of lock and they didn't have a key. I continued to stop in and also call David and was told the unit had been rented and no one knew where my thing's were. I spoke to the off site representatives several times also and got no results. I spoke to the "new" manager Elgin regarding my thing's and no results. I also spoke with Elgin regarding a leaking pipe outside my unit that was to be checked on. When I began to move my thing's out I again inquired about my thing's and was told by the "new" manager Joe that I would have to file a police report. After moving my thing's out I called and was connected to an off site representative, and explained that there was damage to my couch from the pipe that I was attempting to try and use the move out online feature and wasn't able to, and I also sent a message from the site to the "now" manager Joe and got no response. She stated she would send a message also and I explained I had been trying to reach the office regarding the leaking and the damage, was told I would have to speak to the office and I explained I wasn't able to get through any time I called. The representative transferred me to customer care and I still never spoke with anyone. This has been my only option to express my concerns fully and it has been 5 day's since leaving the email for the manger and 4 day's since the off site representative sent her message. My overall experience was horrible after 16 months of storing my thing's and the continued staff turn over and no results regarding my concerns.TEASHA H. | Overall Experience
I was given a free month of storage for two units because they didn’t have 1 unit big enough for what I needed it for. That was helpful and I was grateful. However, I found later that I didn’t need the units so I called and cancelled them. I was assured that it was cancelled. I started receiving letters about owing the facility. I called several more times and also showed up in person twice and was assured that both units were cancelled by the manager. I still continue to receive calls. Very disappointed at the end. In October I asked that I be taken off of automatic pay. I paid for October and November. In December we emptied out the locker first thing in the morning and got home and found out that you charged the card for December. I am hoping that this can be corrected. Also. The employees were very friendly and helpful. I had a reservation, it was not communicated to this location and they had to find me a new space, which was done quickly and effectively. I don't understand why the U-haul corporation has such a hard time with their reservations, if this location didn't have space available I would have been screwed. I did not realize I still needed to check-in @ desk when picking-up my rental, or I would have arrived earlier as it was pretty busy. Once at counter things went pretty well, as we went through both trunk rental & storage rental contracts separately. Thaddeo(?) was my service rep & did a good job; he was patient to repeat some things for me as I am a little hard of hearing. After acquiring the truck & transferring some tools from my car, I had to return to office to arrange accessing storage unit to apply my disc lock (note: the only kind allowed), & Elton noticed my return to line & promptly asked me what I needed. He let know where to meet him, walked me to the unit, opening inspection, & applying my lock. I appreciated that quick help, so I could get on with my day. The person working during my check-in did not know what they were doing. They had me pay for a lock before I got into my unit, even though there already was a lock in my unit when I arrived and I shouldnt have had to buy one. There is also a large pole running through my unit that makes storing things difficult and takes up quite a bit of space. We completely cleaned out the storage on Saturday February 29, 2020 and requested a move-out receipt at the store counter. I was told they would email it to me by Sunday 3/1/20 and as of today I have not received it. I called them Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and can never get through to that location. The call gets forwarded to another Uhaul service center. The Uhaul service rep said she has emailed my storage location (1500 south 1st street, Milwaukee, WI 53204) but has not received a response either. I’ve been emailing customer service but they can’t locate the account. This is very frustrating!
