As far a self storage place - this was an amazing facility. Clean, well lit, staffed with helpful and nice folks. I have stored stuff in the past for both work and personal and this was on a different level then those places. I can't say that is what drew me in at first though, it was the price .. so on top of all of the good stuff above, the cost was very very fair. However my rental location was 7th Street and not River Road. It was not until I showed up at 10am that 7th street told me it was at a different location and I should have been notified which I was not. River road said they just received the transfer at 6:30am that morning. That is no way to treat a customer especially one on a tight timelineDean C.

Improve your terrible website and reservations department. What's the point of calling ahead or booking onlinewhen the truck I booked wasn't available and the storage unit I booked was already rented to someone else when I arrived. I ended up not having a drive up storage unit which was a nightmare to coordinate with my 6 kids in the car. And did I actually receive a credit for the miles between Canby and Lake Oswego? It was very annoying to add in an extra 45 minute drive while I was trying to move. Uhaul.com would have served me better if it didn't exist at all then I could have just showed up and asked what was available, because that's pretty much what I had to do any way.Jethro H.

The Uhaul truck itself drove terribly. The steering was like driving a toy - there was so much play in the wheel that it was nearly undriveable. Driving straight was a definite challenge and I've driven many box trucks in the past. The transmission was noticeably going out as the truck had difficulty shifting gears (even though it was an automatic) and lurched terribly when it finally did change gear. Whether full, empty, with the tow/haul on or off, the truck drove terribly. The location that rented the truck was great. The person I worked with was great too. But the truck was awful.Jessica M.

I was pleased with the process. One tire had an issue, but Uhaul took care of it. All customer service individuals were so friendly and helpful. Only thing is that the interior of the truck cab was pretty basic and a little loud. Not a huge deal and probably the nature of the beast. I found an available storage unit on the website, so I went into the facility to take a look at it before I rented it to ensure I could back a trailer up to it. When I went up to the counter, the guy that helped me looked in the computer and said there are no available units. I said I was just online and there is one. He said I can't help you there are none available. I walked outside, I got back on the website and RESERVED the unit that was on there prior to me walking into the building. I walked back up to the counter and said I just reserved a unit. Why tell someone that there are NO units available if there truly are. I told Evan while I was there and will tell you (whoever you are who is reading this) that he made the process of completing the transactional parts of the process pleasant and easy. His attitude was not like I encounter with so many workers these days, one where the worker communicates what is almost disdain for actually being called upon to do his or her job. He listened when I spoke, engaged me intelligently and patiently and communicated the essentials of the process clearly and with a smile. His performance of his job set the stage PERFECTLY for entering a sparklingly clean, well lighted, secure and easy to navigate storage area. I was glad to note also that this is a fire sprinkler-protected facility. That may not mean a lot to many readers, but for someone who worked in the field of fire and life safety for 40 years it made me feel even better about the prospects for the safe storage of the goods I'll be putting in the room I rented. I highly recommend any persons interested in renting storage space in Eugene at the very least visit this property before putting your stuff anywhere else. Corporate office need to help the location with stopping gas theft. They do their best but gas theft takes place regularly and puts undue stress on the personnel. Please invest in locks for the gas caps or a night guard and some motion sensors.Dmitri I.

A lot of my things were ruined by rat feces and urine. I was really frustrated by this. I’ve rented storage units before and have never had this problem. It was almost everywhere. I don't think it is the storage facilities fault, as there are traps in all the units, but while our stuff was in storage there, it was covered in mouse droppings and a hole was chewed in our couch. I was informed by the facility they they would not cover the damages. I would not recommend storying anything there that you want to keep in good condition.corey g. | Overall Experience

I looked at a lot of different places before settling on this location to store my sensitive equipment. The fact that I was a customer for nearly four years is a testament to the fact that this storage location is hands-down the best storage facility in the Eugene/Springfield area. To begin with, nearly the entire facility is indoors, both heated and cooled year-round. Few (if any) other storage places offer this important feature to protect your sensitive items from wide swings in temperature. In addition, the location of this storage facility is easy to access and features plenty of parking and a full range of services related to your storage, including moving trucks & trailers, packing supplies, and more. Need I say more? Not only does this storage facility has clean restrooms for customers, it is well-kept and and staffed by a friendly team of hard-working individuals. Truck was filthy on the outside and had numerous scratches and dents that weren't marked. App took 50 minutes to try and use and eventually had to go inside to talk with staff who told me not to worry as the computer said it was already checked out. Then upon return you all tried to charge me for gas that wasn't in the truck to begin with. Who wants to get into a retail truck and then go find a gas station? Why aren't you renting trucks with full tanks? If a truck is returned missing gas, I know you charge the customer for it so why aren't you filling the tank after charging them? The 10' truck was Awesome. Clean, drove smoothly, A/C ice cold and reasonable gas mileage for a truck fully loaded. River Road Manager, Cali was a great help in getting me out the door and on the road in record time. The only bummer of the whole process was that reserving online somehow allows for creating a reservation for a truck that is not available. U-Haul contacted me relatively quickly to make other arrangements. In the end, everything went fine, but I did not like that it happened, it cost a little more time and effort than I wanted.BRANDON G.

I ordered a hitch which I was told was in stock 4 weeks ago. I was called and told it would take a half hour. After an hour I was told that the hitch was not in stock. I was then told that they would call me which they did and said they would order the part. After 2 weeks I was told there was a problem with Ups. After 4 weeks I called and the reordered the part. We rented a uhaul everything was with the exception of the general manager calling at 603pm we were literally already in the parking lot. Don't be late at all at this location. I have storage there and have for over a year. Plus have rented uhauls 3 different times in the last 8 months. Placed reservations for the largest storage unit only to arrive to be told there were none available. Or the 5x5 size either.. I was there with a full truck and now overwhelmed. Told that the system continues to allow reservations even when they are full so not their fault!!!!. Then he suddenly found 2 mediums size. Now I have to pay for 2 containers. Then I needed a 5x5 which his associate found the next day. Amazingly. I am rating for the people but your reservations system sucks! Great experience. I needed it a few more days. The phone experience, with multiple call drops on the other hand.. (not so good). But, the Uhaul website was easy to navigate and extend the truck use. It would be nice if you had a punchcard for multiple rentals, or even weekly discounts for extended use. I would HIGHLY recommend the rentals to a friend though. And I would tell them to go to the River Road location! Justin Giese was the person that took care of me. I hope he sees this, (or the boss buys him lunch or something!). Great storage place, safe and secure, temperature controlled, but in the end management was not cooperative because we were going to use PODs for moving cross country. They wanted to place the PODs as far away from the front in the back which would have been inconvenient for loading and if it rained (this is Oregon) damaging. I stated my displeasure and said we spent a lot of money renting 2 units for a year and half to protect our furniture and now they just want throw our furniture out into the parking lot for staging and loading. In the end they put it in the front but as far away as possible. I even offered to cover PODs name with a tarp or they could have parked a truck on each side. Fortunately it did not rain and it worked out other than the extra distance to load. As to the employees they were great, helpful friendly and not bothered by PODs.Warren W. | Overall Experience

I would never get a storage unit from UHUAL again. When I called for truck rental, they sold me storage. Very misleading unit was given to me. I requested a 10 X10 and had a rental at another facility that I cancelled bc I was told it would be the same. We showed up and it was a 10X7.5 with a column in the corner. We drove a 26’ UHaul truck from IL to OR & arrived at Santa Clara about an hour before closing to do paperwork for our storage units. I pre-registered for the largest unit & a lock online but at the facility they only showed a lock order. Thank God they had 1 unit left to rent to me. Then the polite assistant manager tells us the sliding doors would close in about 45 minutes & we’d have to move the contents of the 26’ truck through a door (maybe 36” wide). We unloaded the truck as fast as we could & left the facility at 9 minutes to 10pm. It was absolutely insane! I gave the assistant manager & facility an above average stars but the Uhual website & UHaul corporate rules a below average score. How can they lose an order for a 10x15 unit but keep a $13.00 lock order? Obviously things are different here because in Chicago we’d have 24 hours access (so we could unload after hours) maybe they should tell customers that important fact when registering on line for their unit. I guess since my order for my unit was lost UHaul didn’t know that it was important to tell us there was no 24 hr access & we’d have to unload a 26’ truck through a regular 36” walk thru door. I rented my storage online but it took me a week to move stuff in because life's a little crazy right now. I arrived to find a lock on my unit with a note "come see me in the office". I went to the office. It was empty... waited almost 10 mins for a person to appear. Found out they will lock empty lockers after a period of time because people have put stuff in empty units before. I understand that! But it was just kinda frustrating to think I wouldn't have to spend time working to get keys and then I did. I think either locking them from the start, or including in communications when that happens so the customer knows to expect it, would have been a better experience. I was really, very impressed by the rep who moved me in. He was alone in the store at the time, but he was doing an excellent job of handling multiple customers. On top of that, he was dealing with some very difficult customers who were attempting to move out. A lot of people wouldn't have been able to handle the load and circumstances he was in, but he handled it all quite gracefully. He was fully professional the whole time. What's more, to me, despite the the former tenants he was dealing with being of less-than-desirable character, he was still perfectly professional, level headed and I would say compassionate towards them. It was pretty obvious their daily lives were probably pretty difficult or uncomfortable. I don't really know how they got into that situation, nevertheless, I know humanizing everyone is the best way to give them hope that they can make their own lives and futures better. I don't know if your rep. was thinking on that level, but he was extraordinarily professional and had such excellent customer service that it was humanely dignifying to all parties involved, or observing.
