I blame corporate more on this experience especially with the lack of explaining checking out the vehicle must be checked via a web link. Very poor with no notification. Utilizing Text communications is not secure and people who do not have a smart phone do not have the ability to address this. Second issue I asked for the driver's wiper blade to be replaced. The gentleman decided to repair the wiper blade vs. replacing it. The wiper blade was worse then just letting it scratch the windshield. Corporate needs to do a better job having their associates review all the requirements for check-out and/or check in of rental equipment.MICHAEL L.

When I picked up the vehicle, it had just 1/4 tank of gas in it. I drove a total of 20 miles and returned it, as I was in a time crunch. I was then notified that since it is below 1/4 tank now, I was to be charged an extra $30. I was also charged for 3 gal of gas, even though that truck gets over 20 miles to the gal. I have used this location for a decade now and never felt taken advantage of nor treated unfairly until now. This type of treatment will lead me to not use U Haul again.ADAM R.

As usual the staff at U Haul Hazel Dell are rock stars. I usually try to arrange my rentals through staff member Cole because I know they always go above & beyond to complete my reservation. This time I had to change my rental plans 3 times due to unforeseen issues & yet Cole each time handled it with a â€œno problemâ€ attitude and in the end the rental I confirmed worked out perfectly. Please fix rentals properly upon breaks and maintenance from rental use. My truck rental that was issued to me had a check engine light. I was informed that the gas cap just needed tightened due to a evaporation error code. When I re-fueled the truck upon returning the equipment I noticed that the gas tank had a hole in it. I suffered a significant decrease in gas mileage during the rental and a waste of gas upon re-fueling. The gas tank was only bandaged from previous inspection, not replaced.Kienen W.

When returning there were 2 return lanes with a truck in the first already. In the second the was a trailer with its hitch on the line. I stopped without pulling in for safety and was motioned forward by your employee anyways. I pointed to the hitch but was told to pull in regardless. I pulled in with about 18 inches between trucks. My dealings with UHaul using their â€œUboxesâ€ (4 altogether delivered separately) was fraught with unresolved computer problems at their end in that my boxes were separated into two accounts, making it difficult to track them. I spoke to at least 3 people who assured me they would get them on the same order, but this never happened. I also ordered boxes online and received a confirmation for delivery the next day. When no one arrived the next day, they told me the computer was wrong and my boxes were coming the following day. I had to pay workers for standing around, then have them come back the next day. When I called to have the boxes moved out of storage to my new house they told me one of their trucks was broken down and one of their drivers had been exposed to COVID so I would have to wait an extra 4 days, which caused me to have to rearrange movers and extend the storage. They offered to let me trailer them myself, and I'm very capable, but how is a woman in her 60's who has never trailered anything supposed to manage that by herself? Most of the staff I met in person were very nice and tried to be helpful. Overall this has been frustrating and costly and I'm unlikely to use them again.Janet S.

Card reader does not work properly even when staff helps. Double opening door at 10am today did not open with card, code or employee code. Had to use code to get into walkin door. I set up automatic payments online then they didn't go through and I was charged a late fee, so then I called the office and set up automatic payments that way and then was charged a late fee *again* the next month. When I went to move out there were five people behind the desk, only one of whom was occupied on the phone, who couldn't be bothered to help me. The policy of not pro-rating after move out is also pretty bizarre. It's too bad that U-Haul is a monopoly without much competition. I cannot describe how you basically saved my life by allowing me several extension on my rental. As far as the storage goes when I leave in the storage unit well you know you never know if you'll be back to get it the only take the things that I need and leave the rest you're somebody else that needs it now make sure that I leave the key in town so that I can donate items out of my storage lock up while I'm out of town. I pray that other follow and that the storage or people don't maybe killing this year off of everybody not to say that I wouldn't buy a few hundred. called up to rent a storage unit for a 5' wide habitat that I got from work as well as a 1500 sq foot home and we went through 3 units (Not one time did they check the doors for proper access for me) assured me that each one that the habitat that I got would " FIT JUST FINE" so I unloaded the stupid thing trusting them at their word that it would fit ... it did not I was less than impressed, and due to the problems with the rental unit I had to leave the Habitat in the back of one of the rental box trucks (of which I was assured that I would only be charged one day because of all the hassles) I got charged for the full time (not just one day) and they never bothered to cancel my storage unit that I obviously would NOT be using since I couldn't get anything through the doors ... I love the 24 hour access & climate control for my electronics and paintings I typically work all day so everything else is usually after 10pm I love all the cameras they make me feel like my stuff is safe.... This is the worst uhaul facility I have ever experienced. Phones are rarely answered, you get the worst service from this place. Employees are rude. I rented a $19.95 truck, for a day only to find out it was for only 12 hours and the employee who rented it to me failed to tell me it had to be back by 8am the next morning and when I turned in the truck after I filled the gas tank which was not full to begin with, but the vehicle is parked on a slant so it appears the tank is full when it is not. My access was to be until 10 pm. I had moved quite a ways away and was trying to move out. I came in on a Sunday right at office closing (5pm) and my card wouldn’t let me get in. I went to the office and the girl was rude saying they’re closed and brushed me off. I said I have access until 10pm, even says so on my app. She just repeated “we’re closed” I went BSCK to the storage facility as 2 employees were walking away, I asked for assistance and they flat out ignored me. Turned around and looked, then kept walking away. Luckily another guy came. He spoke with me a moment, looked at my app to see the time I had access, and fixed it from his phone. The staff were professional and polite. However, I was not aware that you required extra phone numbers etc for the registration. As I had left my phone in the car and it was pouring rain I did not want to go retrieve it. I had no choice. It would be extremely nice if a FULL accounting of required information was listed in order to avoid confusion. Also, the 10x10 unit assigned to me already had a lock on it. I got a storage unit because I was evacuating for the fire. When I got to your facility I was told I could not start storing thing because they were closing soon and the card reader wasn’t registering new cards. I did get a free night and mileage on the Uhaul truck, but I had to drive 45 minutes towards the house that I was evacuating and I had to worry about all of my belongings and a Uhual truck.
