Austin made it so easy for me on a stressful moving day. Thank you!!
Jennifer SI been here a few times now. I forget his name but the guy who runs it has been great!
Mike CMy overall experience this time was challenging, bordering on terrible. They didn't have the truck I reserved 4 days prior, didn't call me, and waited until I arrived to tell me. They called someone and told me I needed to go to this location because they had one. However, when I arrived, they didn't. They offered me a smaller one, with no ramp. This was a terrible option for me, meaning more moves and a struggle for the older people helping me move. Eventually, the customer service guy, who was the only positive part of my experience, he deserves a medal, offered me a larger truck that had been damaged. It was still a better option than the small one, so I took it. But that truck was struggling and in its own way made some things difficult. I will not be using U-Haul next time.
Amy HA lot of what I have complaints about isn’t the location itself. The dude helping me pick up the truck was great; quick and responsive. He did his job well - the location is great. It’s the U-Haul model overall that seems to nickel and dime and take advantage of the inherent quickness/desire for progress that most people renting a U-haul truck are under. What I’m most frustrated about was the fuel and mileage things in the rental agreement. Firstly, with the fuel, I was started at 1/16 of a tank and given a “fuel credit” of $31; with the understanding that I would return the truck with at least 1/4 of a tank. It was a 60 gallon tank. The math works out to them expecting I add 11.25 gallons of gas above what I used for the move itself. With gas being $4.79 at most gas stations in the area, that’s an expectation that I pay $53 in extra fuel while they only “comped” me $31 for the fuel difference. On moving day, in the rush of the moment, they know I’m not going to put up a fuss and delay my progress by arguing for this $22 discrepancy. Secondly, when booking the truck I put in my desired pick up and drop off destinations. The moving truck came with 75 miles when the bare minimum it was feasible to do that specific drive was 89 miles - with the expectation that I just pay $1/mile above what they allowed me. The worker at the pick up location was awesome and he was able to add extra miles onto the reservation from the get go so it ended up being a moot point. Just don’t appreciate the algorithm the company uses to set such a low limit when they know very well it’s not even possible. Overall in summary: 1) The pick up location guy was great, location was convenient, it was smooth to pick up the truck 2) The U-haul company as a whole seems to enjoy finding extra ways to extract extra money out of you on top of the presented rental price
