How U-Haul Reviews WorkA rear tire was dangerously flat when they issued the rental to me
Adam KI reserved a van, but when I arrived there were no vans available, which was very frustrating. I had no choice but to rent a truck instead. The truck was in pretty rough condition. There were pieces of broken glass along the driver’s side window area and on the floor, and the exterior was quite beaten up. The low tire pressure warning was also on for the front left tire. The employee tried to inflate the tire using a mobile pump, but it would not work after being connected to two different 12V/cigarette lighter outlets in the truck. I ultimately had to leave with the low tire pressure warning still on. I had also reserved a dolly, but it was never provided. I did forget to ask for it at pickup, but since it was part of my reservation, I would have expected it either to already be in the vehicle or to be handed to me. On top of that, because I was forced to take a truck instead of the van I reserved, I ended up paying significantly more in tolls. The links provided for documenting the vehicle’s condition also did not work properly. After clicking the camera icon, the camera simply would not open, so I wasn’t able to take the requested photos through the process. I’d suggest moving this functionality into the U-Haul app, where it would hopefully be more reliable than the browser-based links. One smaller but still surprising issue was the lack of Bluetooth connectivity. The truck did have a USB “iPod” connection, which made the absence of Bluetooth feel especially outdated, but I didn’t have the right cable with me for most of the drive. In 2026, wireless audio and navigation connectivity really feels like something a rental vehicle should have. Overall, not a great experience, especially since I had reserved the appropriate vehicle and additional equipment in advance.
