We were given a truck with the check engine light on. The uhaul rep said it was ok, and that it was checked out and nothing was wrong. We needed to travel from Yelm WA to Spokane WA, not a local trip. The truck initially ran fine, but after we departed and experienced the first uphill portion the transmission started slipping and making alot of noise. We got near the top of Tiger Mountain HWY 18 (barely) pulled over and called roadside assistance. After several minutes, and the rep talking with a mechanic, they suggested getting to Ellensburg, which was a ways away, and we had to cross Snoqualmie pass, which meant we might break down completely. It was close to 11pm and we decided at that point, being extremely stressed out to just go, expecting to call for assistance again. Long story short, I had to shift the truck using the gas pedal, and let off ever time the tranny slipped. Multiple stops to give the truck a break and cool down, extremely slow going up any hill, and very dangerous. We limped it into Spokane approx 6am. The most terrible driving experience in my 55 years of existence. This is completely unacceptable, and that vehicle should have never left the parking lot. I will be contacting uhaul about this, and WA state attorney general after consulting the State Patrol. No one should Pay a combined $1500 for this BS.
