5 x 5 unit and over the course of the four or five months that I had it I can understand a $20 late fee but it’s a 5‘ x 5‘ unit at no point even with late fees should it ever cost more than $100 for the month And yet by the time the month rolled over and I was able to get back in to the neighborhood in order to make a payment, it was over $300. That’s ridiculous and greedy. $5-10 a week sure but you’re already getting 60 some dollars every month for some corrugated steel over some cheap metal studs. I mean I wasn’t even looking at high beams and my unit was on the corner of the building. With the number of units in the facility even if you only rented half a single month would probably pay at least a quarter of the years taxes there’s no way that U-Haul needs to make that much money just because I travel for work and I don’t trust a company that’s going to continuously and fragrantly Slap on fees with my credit card or debit card number. I find your business practices, ridiculous and your corporate greed. Well, I see karma taking care of that for you in the future. I just needed someplace to keep my things for a couple months because of a divorce I haven’t even seen my 49 year-old daughter in almost a year and I struggled to buy them birthday presents to mail to them because of the fees after not being able to get in on a $60 unit for three weeks were so significant that they more than tripled the cost of the unit. I don’t even think double the cost for a month is fair but half a month fee added on if you can’t pay for that period of time is totally understandable and justifiable. we’re all human we make mistakes we misjudge we may not always plan right but if the unit is only worth $60 a month and someone with incapable of making that payment how is tripling the payment and forcing them into a lien sale in any way a good image on your company just so some auction junkie can come in and buy the unit for less than the fees and penalties and sell someone’s lifelong belongings or pennies on the dollar. I hope you all are ashamed of yourselves.
