How U-Haul Reviews WorkThere was obvious and extensive damage to the majority of my belongings that were kept in the storage unit. During the walkthrough, the gentleman assisting me stated that only three items were wet and had been aired out. This was completely inaccurate. There was visible mold on nearly everything in the unit that was not protected inside a plastic tote. The extent of the damage was clearly much greater than what was represented to me. When I called back to complain about the condition of my belongings, I was transferred rather than having my concerns properly addressed. I was also asked to sign a waiver stating that only three items had gotten wet and were aired out. I signed that document based on the information provided to me by your representative. I now believe I was misled into signing a document that did not accurately reflect the actual condition of my property. I was informed that the facility’s sprinkler system had gone off. If my belongings were damaged as a result of an incident involving the facility’s sprinkler system, I believe the situation should have been properly documented and addressed rather than minimizing the extent of the damage. I am extremely dissatisfied with how this matter was handled. I am requesting that this incident be formally reviewed, including the circumstances surrounding the sprinkler system activation, the condition of my storage unit, the representations made to me during the walkthrough, and the waiver I was asked to sign. I am also requesting information regarding the claims process and appropriate compensation for the property that was damaged by water and mold. I have documentation showing the actual condition of my belongings and am prepared to provide photographs and any additional information necessary.
