To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a very distressing experience I had with one of your storage locations and a cargo van rental. On the first day I arrived, the equipment in the office was not working properly. The employee had to attempt to take photos of my driver’s license four separate times. As a result, I was forced to wait in the store for nearly an hour and ended up sweating and extremely uncomfortable before the process was finally completed. When I entered the storage facility itself, I noticed that many of the lights were not functioning properly. The poor lighting made the environment feel unsafe and honestly quite frightening. Because of this, I am now very uncomfortable returning to the facility to retrieve my belongings. In addition to renting the storage unit, I also rented a cargo van. While I was using the van, I extended the rental twice directly with the store manager. Each time I asked how much I owed and offered to pay. I was told that the total amount would not be known until the van was checked in and that I could pay once the vehicle was returned. Despite this, I began receiving repeated phone calls and text messages from the corporate office in Lewisville, Texas. The representative who contacted me identified herself as Brittany and repeatedly stated that the van was late. I explained to Brittany that the store manager had extended the rental and told me I would pay once the van was checked in. During our call, she never asked me for payment. However, after the call ended, my bank account was charged multiple times in different amounts without my authorization. My bank declined these charges, but the attempts happened repeatedly, approximately five or six times. I continued to receive multiple texts, calls, and emails stating that the van was overdue. Some of the messages even threatened that the cargo van would be reported stolen if it was not returned immediately. This was extremely upsetting because I had already extended the rental at the office and had attempted to return the vehicle and offer payment on two separate occasions after rushing from work. Throughout this situation, Brittany was rude, dismissive, and very threatening in her tone. At no time during our conversation did she request authorization for payment, yet charges were still attempted against my account after the call ended. This entire experience caused me a significant amount of anxiety and stress. I felt sick from the situation and very uncomfortable with how everything was handled. I would appreciate this matter being reviewed by a regional manager. I would also like clarification regarding the attempted charges to my bank account and the threatening messages I received despite following the instructions given to me by the store manager.
