My customer service was great, and the truck was a really nice one. Love the back up camera added. Only issue I had was after hour return of the truck. I didn’t realize I had to download app to return the vehicle until I got to the store to do it. So then I had to sit there in the dark go through that process, answer all the questions, take photos of the truck… etc. I told my son I was good he could pull off I was just droop the key in a box and leave. So I was all alone at night with my little grandson, downloading app, taking photos, and searching for over aprox 30 mins for the drop box. I’ve done this many times over the years and I couldn’t find the drop! Finally saw a customer that came to their rent unit and I asked sis they know where the drop was. They showed me it was a small opening on the garage door. I didn’t see it because it was small, and so the signage. It needed to have a larger sign, bright yellow, red etc or something on the front of the building itself so it could be seen. Other than that all was good.

tamalya m | First ImpressionsI rented a 10'x10' storage unit for 20+ years. I was an outstanding rental tenant and all monthly payments were accomplished by monthly electronic bank deduction. Over the last 5-years, my rent increased close to 130% and in a few cases twice a year. Every time rent increased, the rental amount was greater than the rental rates advertised in the office and in most cases by circa 20%. This is a great indicator of how reliable good customers were treated. The biggest issue I had was with the deterioration in facility security at the storage facility. Between early 2021 and July 2025, my wife was harassed 3-times by other supposed rental unit tenants (in groups of 2-3 male individuals) making inadvertent sexual comments/gestures and offers to her while she was delivering or retrieving items from the storage unit. Aforementioned was reported to management via email and/or phone calls, however, nothing ever changed. Of note, on a couple of occasions, management never even responded to my inputs and were never present at the facility office any time I went in to address an issue. When I terminated my rental agreement on July 28th, I was informed that the touted annual security upgrades at the facility were only associated with cameras and if tenants had issues, they had to call the police for assistance as on-site staff were not responsible for assisting tenants put in precarious situations. I found it interesting that the climate controlled storage building was open to anyone who went to the facility and could actually enter the facility with no checks. What is concerning, the storage facility has an area where tenants can donate items for other tenants to take, however, the reality is that anybody (vagrants, drug addicts, homeless individuals, non-tenants) have undenied access to the location. As far as facility cleanliness is concerned, the storage building is well maintained and cleaned, however, the local vagrants, homeless and drug addicts use the first floor bathroom unimpeded for their personal needs. I have, on occasion, used the bathroom to find the toilet overflowed with feces all over the floor and in one case found used drug syringes discarded in the sink. I actually reported my finding to working staff in the office, however there was never any security effort to preclude undesirables from entering the facility. As a result of all of the aforementioned, I elected to terminate my rental agreement with U-Haul and have leased a new location which has great security across all aspects of the facility. I also reached a point where it became evident U-Haul is all about maximizing its money intake and their customers are only numbers. Hopefully, this input will help U-Haul change its core values with regard to what they are marketing to their loyal customers.
