On arrival at 8:00am it was a location that was owned by KC Cab Company. The doors showed closed. An extremely rude man opened the door, said no one was there and shut the door in our face. Then he came back out and had to call the owner Jeff. I talked to Jeff who advised the employee called into work but the man could hook it up. The man said he was just a cab driver but could hook it up. The cab driver refused to assist even putting in the hitch. I had to put in the hitch, secure the pin . He then attached the trailer and secured the chains and the cable to test the lights. The cab driver was very rude and extremely unhelpful in all areas, lacking customer service or any empathy for the situation. I was concerned about the hookup so then called the Pekin, Illinois location where I was originally supposed to pick up the trailer. I had to drive an additional 30 minutes to get to this location so I could have an actual U-haul employee check for a secure and safe hookup. The Pekin worker was very kind and helpful. The worker noticed the chains were too loose and also the pin had not been pushed in properly. I didn't know how to push the pin correctly and the cab driver at the East Peoria location was clearly not qualified to check the chains or pin for a proper install. Another concern was the fact that I was hauling a u-haul for the first time and going 900+ miles from Illinois to Oklahoma for an entire household move which was already a stressful situation. I will never recommend the East Peoria location to anyone. As far as improving for the next customer I would highly recommend training the cab employees who could potentially be hooking up trailers in customer service and immediately offering the option to call the owner of MC Cabs versus waiting until the customer refused to leave. I would also recommend the employees be advised to express knowledge and concern for the situation. Based on the above information, treatment and mental anguish of an already stressful situation, I am respectfully requesting a full refund .
