The truck we rented was clean and we have rented from this location in the past and had excellent experience. However, this time we were not able to get the vehicle key from the lock box on the outside of the building as the lock would not open. Additionally the clerk had taken a late lunch so no one was there to assist us. Upon her return 45 minutes later she was able to open the lock box and get the vehicle key for us. When we told her the lock would not open for us, she said “it’s not broken, there is just a trick to it”. The delay in picking up the truck resulted in us being late meeting two guys we had hired to help us load the truck which caused us having to pay them extra for their time. Ultimately that was our fault for scheduling the times too close to together. However, we experienced poor customer service from the clerk at Dun Deal Storage.
JOHN BArrived at the facility at the scheduled time to pick up my truck. Found a note on the door stating “ out on property”, call the phone number listed on the note with no answer, left a voicemail. After approximately 5 to 10 minutes, called the number again when an employee answered and stated she would be in the office in a “couple of minutes” and requested that I check in online. I informed her that I had already done that. After another 5 to 10 minutes, the employee called me to notify me that she had locked herself out of the office and had to wait for her boss to get there to let her in. I expressed my concerns to the employee regarding the fact that I had movers scheduled to arrive at my home who charged by the hour. She acknowledged that and stated she would hurry as fast as she could. Once I was able to get the keys to the truck, I asked about buying boxes and was pointed to a corner of the facility that had no new boxes, but piles of recycled boxes of all different types that they were willing to “sell” me. I declined. once in my truck and ready to leave the property, the employee ran out and told me to stop that that was the wrong truck. I explained to her that was the same truck number that was in the confirmation email. She stated it was not correct. I got out of the truck as I was walking towards the office she came back out and stated that in fact, it was the correct truck. due to this fiasco I had to contact my movers and reschedule the time with them which did incur extra cost to me. None of the issues were related to U-Haul directly, but the site, I would never use or recommend.
