When returning the UHaul truck, trying to login to the App (as a first time user) was impossible. It asked me to fill out info as a business, and had no way for me to login as an individual customer. Wanted me to specify what country I was in, but did not have a space for that info. Then after returning the truck’s key through the drop slot (employee was closed for lunch), we tried to call the hotline to verify the return, since the store employee said we had to answer a few questions online to verify our return. 15 minute wait on hold. I was driving our car home during the call. My wife was holding the phone and the rental contract. The U-Haul associate came on the line and asked me to authorize her to speak with my wife, as my name was listed on the rental agreement. Then, the U-haul associate asked us for the rental agreement number. My wife read it to her. The U-Haul rep insisted that I read the number, even though I had authorized my wife to speak, as I was driving. The lady refused to allow my wife to read the number. We were on the freeway and exhausted from a long moving day, and I had to exit the freeway to pull over and read out the rental agreement number. After which, the lady said “you will just have to check your email the following day” to receive a verification email. If that is standard policy, she could have told us that at the beginning of the call, when I explained our reason for calling. And to make me read out the number was ridiculous. I will use PENSKE from now on to avoid the lack of simple customer care that your company refuses to give, during such a simple transaction, at the end of an already paid for rental.
