The truck I was given DC-1001H was so beyond dirty I felt like I was going to catch something from being in it. My hands were literally sticky from the steering wheel. I feared for my life driving the thing as it bounced when you drove it.. no matter what speed. Bounced so hard the center console just about popped out of place. Upon returning I asked if they ever test drive them as it was so dirty and drove so horribly and they were shocked because it “just came back from the shop”. It was given to me with less gas than the paper stated. I could not take pictures to submit as they somehow bypassed that option for me. I was able to drive a whole 18 miles before the gas light came on!!!

Brakes need replaced and gear shift got stuck a couple of times
Alicia MThey clearly didn't inspect the cargo area after the last rental before me. If they had, they would have seen it wasn't very clean. I have photos to prove it. So having them actually INSPECT what they EXPECT would be a great start. Also, checking the equipment back in promptly would be great. I originally wanted the truck for 24 hours but was told I couldn't have it because that very truck was reserved for 12 noon the next day. At approximately 11am 2 days AFTER my rental I get a call from Uhaul wanting to know if I still had the truck or if I'd returned it. That call was aggravating enough but made worse by the rental location not checking the equipment back in promptly, and made worse by them by not answering their phone when Uhaul tried calling them before calling me about it. It never should have gotten that far. I even drove by the location and that truck was still parked where I parked it when I returned it! Inexcusable! And I parked it in the exact spot I got it from, as they requested. They shouldn't be allowed to rent Uhaul equipment if they're going to be that sloppy and lazy about follow through on cleanliness and checking in returned equipment. Very poor customer service on that end

Bela SOverall the experience was OK and the UHaul representatives that I had contact with were very friendly and responsive. Especially when I had to quickly return the first rental truck handed to us because it was unsafe to drive and obtain another rental truck immediately. Here are my suggestions for further improvement: 1. Make sure the cab section in the truck is sanitized and cleaned and does not have a hanging smelly air freshener inside. 2. Make sure the windshield wiper fluid has been topped off before the next rental. 3. Make sure there is a window scraper available to wipe off the ice and snow. 4. Make sure the engine and transmission are inspected and repaired before the next rental; provide some sort of assurance like a sticker or form that certifies the truck has been fully inspected before each rental rather than waiting for the next renter to find out the hard way (Ref DC 1457S). 5. Upgrade the trucks to add a rear camera and rear view screen to help when backing up (Penske has this feature). 6. Upgrade the radios to allow for Bluetooth connection to ensure hands free phone calling, which is required in many states. 7. Add EZPass devices to match state requirements for driving on toll roads and bill the account when the rental is completed (most rental companies do this). 8. Advise renters of the loading and unloading support available and how the process works. 9. Advise renters that the Safe Move insurance cost is a daily fee, not a 1 time charge.
