ROBERT SThe truck is classed as a commercial vehicle, and the highways here require chains onboard for commercial vehicles. U-Haul does not rent chains with their trucks, which makes them illegal to be operated on the highways. This requires the customer to source/purchase chains to carry them, whether using them or not. Places that sell chains, generally have a no-return policy. The cheapest chains could find were almost $200, and I didn’t need to put them on. U-Haul needs to find a way to include chains with trucks that cannot be highway driven legally during winter months. I’d rather rent them from U-Haul for $50 than spend $200 to buy a low quality set just to be legal on the road.
