The overall experience with the U-Haul truck rental was disappointing. While the vehicle itself performed without issue, both the pickup and return processes were problematic. Prior to pickup, I was redirected between multiple locations without being offered any compensation for the additional mileage incurred. Upon arrival at the final location, the store was closed. I tried to go through the process on the app but the truck number I was instructed to use was not on-site. Fortunately, a staff member passing by contacted the owner, and after approximately an hour of waiting, I was provided with an alternative truck that was available. Additionally, the location did not have the two dollies I had reserved and was charged for. There was also a discrepancy in the recorded mileage—114,579 miles at pickup versus the documented 114,576—resulting in an overcharge. The return process was equally frustrating. The U-Haul app failed multiple times during the return procedure, requiring approximately five attempts. I also spent 20 minutes on hold with customer support before the app eventually began functioning again. In summary, while the truck itself met expectations, the pickup and return experience fell well below an acceptable standard.
