I reserved a 15' truck about a week before my move, along with two dozen furniture pads and a hand truck. The morning of the rental, I got a call that the truck I was to have rented had not returned, and I was rerouted to a different U-Haul a little farther away. OK, no problem. When I got there, it turned out to be a gas station that was only a pickup and drop-off location. Still no problem. However, the gas station attendant did not handle the rental directly; he simply handed me a set of keys. The truck was filthy inside and out, and it was scratched on at least two sides. In addition, they didn't have the furniture pads or the dolly. I took it anyway, since I had movers waiting at my house, but I took the time to stop by the original U-Haul to get the pads and dolly. They didn't have them either. It was also just a pickup/drop-off location. And I was never told any of this. I was then informed that if I wanted furniture pads and a dolly, I would have to drive to a location a half hour in the wrong direction. And no one seemed bothered by that fact...other than me. Eventually, I gave up on the pads and dolly, even though I really needed them, because I was being charged by the hour by the movers, who were still waiting for me to arrive with the truck. Finally, halfway through the move, the check-engine light came on. I'm not sure what it was about. For the record, I notified the gas station attendant when I returned the truck, but he didn't seem to care. "That's U-Haul's problem," he told me. What kind of operation is U-Haul running these days? I believe this is the last time I will rent from you.

Ordered an appliance dolly and furniture pads for the move as we traveled 400 miles down to Southern California for the move. No dolly or moving pads were there as requested and paid for. This pickup was at a Mobile station and the employees told me they were on a shift change and not interested in customer service. The vehicle cab was dirty and smelled of cigarettes. Had to stop and purchase sanitizer wipes and disinfectant to drive in the vehicle. Very disappointing in the lack of customer service and the employees stated they were a small company and couldn’t do anything to help.

MICHAEL SVan was dirty. Windshield was dirty. Washer fluid was empty. When I returned the van the attendant brusquley said "give me the keys". I told him I wanted to check it in and have him check mileage and gas when we checked it in he tried to charge me for a full tank when I picked it up with half a tank and left the van with more than half a tank. Also he charged me for 40 miles when I only traveled 32 miles.
