The service at Vesta Lee Lumber Co in Bonner Springs was excellent and efficient. My gripe is with U-Haul as an organization. I booked a truck for carrying furniture from Lawrence, KS to Eau Claire, WI. My booking was with the Kasold U-Haul branch in Lawrence, Kansas. To my shock, I only received a message the day before, and less than 24 hrs before, that I was now supposed to collect the truck from Bonner Springs, KS. The explanation was that there were no trucks in Lawrence due to how busy or on-demand the U-Haul service at the Kasold location was. To my surprise, after getting the truck from Bonner Springs, I went to the Kasold, Lawrence location to buy a rope and a box. Lo and behold, there were some trucks that were parked there! What angered me the most is the fact that days before I was due to pick up my truck from the Kasold, Lawrence, KS U-Haul branch, I received a message in that same U-Haul branch was requesting me to tow a loaded trailer which needed to be dropped off at a location along my route. They were offering to pay me $350. I declined this offer. My point is that if they could communicate about the possibility for me to tow a trailer several days before I was due to pick up my truck, what made them fail to communicate the unavailability of trucks at this location, well in in advance, only for them to do so less than 24 hrs before I was due to pick up my booked truck? There is need to improve on communication. To this day, I still feel aggrieved by how I was treated.
