The guy at the location just pointed me in the direction of the truck and didn't even do a walk around inspection. Also the blankets I rented were not in the truck and someone had to go back to the facility to get them. I do not know if that was his fault of the documentation from U-Haul. We moved during a weekend of rain and snow. There was trash still in the truck behind the seats when I picked it up. The windshield was smeared and dirty on the inside making rainy night driving difficult and the windshield wipers were terrible. The truck functioned well.

The gentleman at the store was rude. I am a female, 5'2" tall. I had never pulled a trailer or hooked one up. He never asked me nor did he come outside for help. I recently had back surgery and had to lift the heavy trailer by myself and figure out how to hook it up. I did not do it correctly and when I got to a friends house he said it was a good thing that I did not lose the trailer on the way there. I did not have it tightened at all onto the ball. Didn't know I was supposed to. The gentlemen renting it never came outside at all to help me and by then I was mad enough that I was not going to go in and ask for his help. He was too busy talking to another man at the counter. Very very poor customer service and could have easily caused me to wreck.

The pickup experience was terrible. I did the online check in and verification. The process took 30 minutes. I kept putting in my information and it wasn’t saving. I also felt like the lady in the chat doing the verification was rude. I did not like the checking before the location was open. I will NEVER rent uhaul again before the location opens. The hassle made me very angry. The return process was simple and easy.

The only caveat was that the store clerk swept the truck after I purchased it. There was still quite a bit of red dirt and dust of the red dirt in the trailer after that. I couldn't see during the move where, but some part of the trailer ripped holes in all for of my very expensive bed bug mattress covers. That is over $200 in covers destroyed. We are still getting around to getting the rest of the dirt off of our mattresses after having re washed all clothes that were exposed to it. Some of it was clay dirt I believe. I like the proprietors who were reasonably friendly but the service with the truck scores negative marks. Another issue is U-Haul's proprietary security software delaying me over thirty minutes on the morning of my move. Please hire knowledgeable techs to re-vamp or just plain overhaul the software. The clerks say it is a frequent enough issue that they too are tired of wrestling it at the most inopportune times, inconveniencing customers and costing them precious time as well. I am always glad U-Haul is there, but there are more options 'moving in' and if you guys want to stay competitive you might want to consider reviews such as this one.
