The process of renting involves being outside behind the store without access to the van. I felt safe because of the location and daylight hours. But if it had been night or a higher crime area, I would have felt very anxious that the process of renting left me so alone and exposed.
All of the employees were very nice. However, the truck was dirty inside and out. There was trash left in the truck from the previous renter, including a used face mask. This truck was obviously not cleaned as one one would expect during the Covid-19 crisis...disgusting. The radio/bluetooth/screen flickered on and off so most of the time it didn't work. The phone charger port did not work. And because the screen didn't work the backup camera was useless. I would absolutely never rent from this location again.
I did share pickup and it's not easy to find the location of the truck behind the mail center but everything went relatively smooth with the share pick-up procedure.
I filled the car before turning in still I was charged $15 for gas. It bites

I was not told ahead of time I needed alternate contact, took extra 20 minutes to finally coordinate the call. People dont answer strange calls. Hours at this location are restrictive, I was charged extra because I was caught in traffic. A days rent is a days rent
The person renting me the vehicle lied to me. Charged me for gas that I did not use.

The scam ($28,not a large amount but a scam nevertheless) begins when I fill out the computer generated contract at pickup of a 10' truck. Twice I try to take the no insurance coverage but I still end up with $28 printed out on the original predicted bill. I request that it be corrected but the service person assures me that I will not be charged the $28 when the final bill is prepared at dropoff. The service person walks around the truck at pickup making a squiggly mark at many many locations, indicating where there was damage. He also marks the fuel as 1/4 full when it was just barely above empty. This I caught immediately. When I return the truck there are two scrape marks that were not squiggly marked and which the service person insisted occurred during my 22 hours of possession of the truck. At that point, he gives me the choice of paying the $28 for insurance or paying for the damages.. I did not damage the truck during my move. It sat all night in my driveway and could not have been damaged there.either. The service person simply failed, intentionally, to mark the damage and I didn't notice the damage at pickup. Note that, at dropoff, he insisted that I wait in the office while he went to the truck to make his damage check. His "favor" to let me off at "only" $28 was a small time scam. As far as the equipment was concerned, it was clean but had many many dings and scrapes which made the scam easy; to perpetuate. A "yelp" complaint will be filed to warn others to rent their U-haul truck elsewhere.
The people were very nice & the experience went smoothly, but, I could have rented a van from Hertz for 2 days for less money. The hidden costs are just too much. I mean, HOW a 3 hour rental went from $19.99 to $115.00 is astonishing. WAY too expensive.
The exterior of the car was very dirty , the side mirrors were covered by dirt , the interior was ok . I returned the car the same day , but keep getting text message next morning reminding of my appointment, I called the number , kept on hold for over 12 minutes and with no resolution , telling me the branch has not checked the car in , had to drive to the branch again to sort things out . The gentleman was polite and responsive , not sure what mixup you have with your systems .

Truck very dirty. Unless the place is open it is a huge hassle to do everything over phone. Took us an hour to be able to get pick up process handled on phone. Big waste of time. I would only go to a uhaul that is open on the day you rent.
I only drove 23 miles, added 3 gallons of fuel, the gas gauge needle was higher than when I picked up the truck AND I was still charged an additional 1.9 gallons of fuel at $5 per gallon??? The 23 miles I drove for the total of 4.9 gallons of fuel means this truck gets 4.5 MPG? BEWARE, something is not right here. I will try ENTERPRISE next time

The process was easy and the person at aim was very nice but the vehicle smelled horrible. I had to hold my breath and put all of the windows down.
