The pickup process is invasive, and lengthy, and put be behind by 40 minutes on the day that I had reserved the truck. In no world should it be acceptable for U-haul to require me to give personal information for a friend or family member, so that they can ask them to confirm personal data on me. Not only did their process put me behind by a fair bit, but I also got whacked with a secondary rental charge the doubled the cost I was given during the initial reservation. I understand variations in fuel and mileage alter the final cost, but seeing my total rental cost leap from ~$70, to over $140 is absolutely unreal! Especially when the reps on the phone make it unclear as to where the additional charges are even coming from; I was basically told “the numbers on the receipt add up to what you’re being charged” If you’ve had good experiences with U-Haul, that’s great! However, this experience has ensured that I’ll be using alternatives from now on, and will encourage others to do the same.

MYA HIt was a ski shop. There was a U-Haul place up the road, I dont think I should have been sent to this place
KEVIN BPickup location was moved. Shop was closed. Check out on app did not work. It took 3 phone calls to U-Haul to get checked in, as needed key code to ooen lock box. And it was -5F outside and I had to take a bunch of photos of the truck freezing my hands off out in the cold. Miserable experience and truck was old and very uncomfortable.
Catherine WMore of the pre-approval should have been part of the pre-registration. I was confused by having to provide references while at the pick up site since I’d already done the pre-check in thing. Having those in the pre-check-in would be better. Other than that, the process made sense and was smooth. My main issues wasn’t related to U-Haul. Apple decided I needed to change my password before letting me download anything, and I didn’t already have the app. I was happy that I didn't need the app to complete the reservation / getting the vehicle.
