I am not an expert but I don't see a way to do it better. My experience was good.

Hello, I need to express my horrible experience with U-Haul,since we were absolutely appalled and shocked after spending over $2,000 on a 26ft truck and tow dolly (plus $350 in gas). I was surprised to see that there was no veteran's discount but I was happy with one month free storage, so we decided to give your company our business rather than go elsewhere that offers a veteran's discount. I initially ordered a 15ft' truck and tow dolly to be picked up in Middletown, NY on 11/17. I then called Middletown, upgraded my truck to a 26ft and changed the truck pick up day to 11/16. I made sure the person I spoke with knew we would be picking up the tow dolly on Friday afternoon, as initially ordered. Wed night 11/15 I received a text saying that we are to pick up the truck in Monticello (40 minutes total out of the way) when I called customer service I was just told that the location had changed and that was that. On Thurs, 11/16 I waited for about an hr at the pick up location ( a gas station) in Monticello with my toddler and fiance because of an apparent computer issue with no place to sit and wait while customers squeezed by the small counter area. We were then asked if we wanted the $75 insurance. After waiting that long in an uncomfortable setting and having a hard time understanding the guy helping us due to a heavy accent, we told him we would just get the insurance in Middletown the next day when we picked up our tow dolly. On Fri, 11/17 we received a call at 10:30AM telling us our tow dolly had been cancelled and our reservation was booted out of the system and we would have to call corporate to fix it. We explained to the agent that the dolly was supposed to be picked up Fri afternoon on our way out of the state at 2:30, but she still had us call corporate. The agent I talked to fixed the situation, however she made the pick up time 1:00pm, when I told her it needed to be 2:30 since that's when my mother would be home from work and we had to say our goodbyes before we moved from NY to NC. She said, "well you are already on this ice with the manager in Middletown, so I wouldn't push it." After we hung up with her, we called Middletown right away and they said 2:30 was fine. We arrived in Middletown and were then told that we had to get the insurance 15 minutes after picking up the truck the day before. I called and spoke to two corporate agents that just apologized. When I explained that we were never told this by the guy at the gas station, nor did it say this in the contract, one agent said that she only knows this policy because she works there. So we were forced to drive from NY to NC with no insurance. It is hard enough to try and pack up a house with a toddler, two cats, and a dog and move 11.5 hours...U-haul should have made this easier for us, but instead an enormous amount of stress was caused and too much time wasted. We will not be using U-Haul when we move from our storage to our new home. Thank you for yo

This was the worst rental place. First it is a convenient store not a rental place. The counter person would stop every time to ring-up every person that had a $1 lotto ticket a smooth rental took 45 min. The real icing on the cake after 20min waiting my wife asked to use the bathroom they refused saying they don't have a bath for customers. Then I reminded them that its against state law if they serve food not to have a bath for customer in tern the agent said they closed it because the customers make it dirty and told my wife to go use the bath down the block at the bus station. If this was not the only place that had the truck within 50 miles we would have went somewhere else. If i could give them worst than poor rating i would.

Van was not thoroughly cleaned, lock box for mobile pickup was taken down, staff at this location don't serve uhaul customers until all other customers are helped. Rent somewhere else!

Horrible location. Over a half hour away from the location I reserved. Was told my trailer was being delivered to the branch I selected, then they changed the location to one too far away.

I read the reviews from this pick up location, mostly negative and became concerned. It is Monticello and Monticello does not have the best reputation but we all know that. The service I received was prompt and courteous, what more could I ask for.

This location had many bad reviews so I was nervous about renting from them. But I am glad to report that my experience was very friendly and professional. They accomodated my desire to change trucks at the last minute and were very helpful in making my moving experience hassle free and pleasant. Thank you to all at the Mobile for your help!

The field rental office is O'K. The main office is inviting On-line clients to vaste their time giving all credit card information to the website in the order to "safe the client's time as much as twice at the front desk and also giving her sensitive information in front of the other clients during her visit to the field office to pick up her track". In fact there is nothing about time savings. In the field offce the rental officer is scrutinising a client for 15-20 minutes verifying her credit card and drivers ID. So, what's her time saving twice???? If the field officer is doing absolutely the same procedure as without On-line processing? Hah?

located in a gas station with a non separate counter. service non professional. Please note this was not my original pickup location. my original reservation was for Middletown ny. In which the employee who made the reservation made it for the wrong date. So when I arrived there was no truck available. So I then had to drive 30 miles out of my way to this location, I was not even offered anything for this inconvenience. I arrived at Monticello to a very run down and over crowded gas station with no privacy to conduct my private business.

The person that handled the U-Haul rentals was an hour late and charged my card three times for one 15’ foot truck and a hand-truck rental. He charged me $193.32 twice and once for $208.32. The additional charges overdrew my account which caused overdraft charges.

The owner of this store in Monticello was extremely unprofessional and borderline abusive. I asked if he could tell me whether it would be cheaper to go one way or round trip with my Uhall. He refused to tell me which was cheaper saying that he is too busy to deal with that right now. Finally he made me pick my choice within the next 30 seconds, and once I randomly guessed which one would be my cheaper option he told his worker, "if he changes his mind, don't give him shit". Every time he opened his mouth he kept mentioning all the extra charges and costing me more money without explaining what the charges were for. I left that Uhall feeling hustled, extorted and ripped off. Then when I called him back the next day to ask how much more it would cost to drop off the Uhalls at my destination instead of returning them, he refused to give me a price just telling me "much more than returning them". I spent over $500 with this Uhall store and regret every penny I spent. It was the worst customer service experience I've had in my life and I will not be using Uhall ever again. I was cursed at, and forced to spend money without knowing my best option for savings. I was respectful and cooperative with this store the entire time, only to be threatened by them refusing me service if I did not make an uniformed decision within the 30 seconds they allowed me, and once I gambled with my choice, I was told I was not allowed to change it. These people should lose their Uhall contract. Their stores nickname in the local community is notoriously known as the "Crack Mobil" because there are so many shady drug dealers and addicts that hang around the store. I should have known better than to deal with these people. They are giving Uhall a bad name, and you just lost a loyal lifelong customer.

Kamaran Khan was slow, unprofessional, & disorganized. He also ripped me off for more fuel, at his gas station, than was required to return the vehicle to 7/8th. He forced me to add 6 gallons for only 37 miles travel, which moved the gauge well past 7/8th. Clearly Kamaran Khan should not be a U-Haul dealer as he is deceptive and I will never use U-Haul again, especially when Penske and Budget do not try to rip off their customers.

I don't know where to start. Hirebetter train reps who understand what they're doing over the phone. Have less belligerent managers at the pickup locations who treat customers like they matter. I could go on and on... horrendous experience

No care in the world here. This town and place is a dump and drug capital of the USA

This is the "crack Mobil" in Monticello. The staff here are running a convenient store/gas station while trying to rent out UHaul trucks. They stop what they're doing during the rental process in order to help other customers. It took about half an hour for me to get the truck rented, and probably another 20+ minutes for me to get it returned. I would gladly pay a few dollars more (for mileage) to rent from the next UHaul a few miles away.
