I booked my U-Haul truck at a North Vancouver location that I knew took good care of their vehicles. However, just one day before pickup, U-Haul changed my reservation to a different location. It turned out to be the worst experience I've ever had with U-Haul. The truck was in very poor condition. The check engine light was on when I picked it up, and when I asked the staff about it, they casually told me not to worry because it was "just something minor related to the gas tank." The front tires were badly worn, and the truck shook noticeably while driving. I was expected to drive this truck for more than 1,000 km from Vancouver to Boise. The staff at the pickup location showed no concern for the condition of the vehicle or the safety of their customers. It seemed like their only priority was renting out the truck. Fortunately, I'm an experienced driver, so I drove very cautiously and made it safely. The experience at the destination in Boise was completely different. The U-Haul employee there was very professional and helpful. After inspecting the truck, he immediately confirmed that it had mechanical issues and told me it would be sent to a repair shop. That only confirmed that my concerns during pickup were valid and should never have been dismissed. I'm extremely disappointed with how the pickup location handled this situation. Customer safety should always come first, and no one should be expected to drive a truck in that condition for such a long distance.
Hooman MGas was not at 3/8 when I picked up the Uhaul
Jeremy KFrom the U-Haul text messaging service I was told to declare my drop off time. I picked earlier to make my moving experience easier however the location was closed but I was given a text confirmation that I could drop it off earlier. This is not a problem with the location but with the U-Haul website and app. This experience cost me over 100 dollars and the app needs to be changed to show that certain locations can only take U-Hauls at certain times. It should be made more clear to customers.
Isabella KCleanliness. I opened the back door to start loading my stuff and I found poo smeared on the floor. I had to clean it myself and it stunk really bad. Shouldn’t have been my responsibility to clean that should’ve been the owners or the prior person who was using it to clean it. I was very disappointed and grossed out.
