This location is tricky to identify and get to. It appears to share property and space with another business. So it is not readily identified as a U-Haul rental lot. It was difficult returning my rental truck on Sunday since the business was not open on Sundays and the online drop-off procedure was complicated. I even went to the Thornton Ave. location to drop off the truck and they told me to take it back to the Newark location otherwise I would be charged double the regular price. This is not good !!!

Location changed on us less than 24 hours before our pick-up date and time - this was unacceptable - we were about to leave to the airport and received notice of this sudden change of location AND type of vehicle (we ended up with a 10-ft instead of a 15-ft truck with ramp; luckily we were able to fit everything). Why can we reserve a location and truck at all if you will change it last minute? We flew from LA to San Jose, no car so had to use Lyft to drive 20 minutes away instead 5 - plus unfamiliar territory for us. Gentleman at this location was friendly and apologetic for arriving like 25 minutes later than our appointment which was set for 9am. We realize that the local fires had an impact on the entire situation, but again, why allow reservations if you will change them? This was NOT a great way to start a moving trip. The car was very nice, though I wonder why you do not have internal air circulation for the AC and clearer directions for the HAUL option and for the radio/connecting phones - this was a bummer since we have a 6 hour drive and there was a ton of smoke on our drive through Gilroy and down the 5 in 95+ degree weather. THis was more affordable than Penske rentals, but with the uncertainty, not sure if I would use UHAUL again.
For some reason the online site would not allow me to do mobile online rental at 7am but when front desk person arrived about 9:30am everything went great, and was the same upon returning. In the end, very pleased with service & with truck.
Was not a location that I would have wanted to come to alone. Also was disappointed that there was nothing within COVID restrictions, no glass protectors and no face masks required as I was told would be on the phone.
It is not the typical uhaul center, but one specifically for trucks. I was not aware, so was surprised. The owner was very nice and efficient
Nice people, easy process
The vehicle made it to Texas without any major issues. But we wasted a lot of money on gas due to a leak in the transition area from where you put the gas in to the actual tank. Every time we stopped there was a puddle of gas left behind. Once you stopped filling the leak stopped so the tank itself is not leaking just the transition area to the tank.
Bad customer service....have me the run around
I dropped off asked if anything needed to be done in my end they said no I called uhaul to check and the drop of location hadn't checked in my rental then they charged me for an extra day when they took an hr to even check it in
I drove from the Bay Area to the LA area I had the truck for 3 Days had no issues easy to drive easy to load. both places I picked up and delivered and courteous no Drama
Make sure you tell people how dangerous having the tow/haul button auto engaged. Almost hit my friends car.
The concept is really simple- go on line, reserve the truck you need at the best location for you logistically, pick it up, move your stuff, bring it back. IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE WITH UHAUL. I reserved my truck 3 WEEKS before my move, got a call during work hours THE DAY BEFORE saying I would have to drive 93 miles to pick up the truck. When I find this out, I call in and their best solution is to give me 2 trucks at the same rate. Since I had no other options 18 hours before my move, I agreed. Did I mention that the two trucks would have to be picked up at 2 different locations still 20 miles away? Go to pick up the first truck, talk with John (who was actually really great) and decide to only gte one truck and a trailer. On my way, do my move, drop off my truck. Get my emailed receipt the next day and was overcharged by $220 on the mileage. Now I get to deal with their "great" service folks whom were oh so helpful with the truck fiasco to begin with. WILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN. I give the location in Newark and John 5 stars; if I could give Uhaul service people a negative 5 rating, I would.

I was forced to choose this location because Uhaul did not hold my reservation for a 5x8 at the location requested, nor on the day - I had to delay my move date by a day. This location was an hour from my location. Upon pickup, the 5x8 trailer was slightly smaller than advertised dimensions, requiring me to drop some of my belongings. If sizes vary between models, be upfront about it, I only found this out by reading the fine print on a poster in the store while waiting for pickup.
John was absolutely amazing and so kind. I will definitely recommend to go to his business! In fact I will be using him again soon.
I will NEVER rent from UHaul again and I will actively dissuade anyone from giving uhaul business. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Uhaul made several errors with my reservation that cost me time and money on my moving experience. Firstly, I changed my reservation date and pickup ahead of time and received confirmation of said change. Yet when I went to pick up my truck, the pickup facility did not have my reservation because the uhaul scheduler erroneously changed my reservation to a date and time in the past. We then had to scramble to find a new truck. When I was told to go to a second location, they also said they didn't have trucks, despite the scheduler telling me minutes earlier they did. This is where uhaul took things to a previously undiscovered level of evil and lack of concern for customers. Since uhaul had now messed up 3 times, I felt they owed me some assistance. They gave me NO offers or alternatives. We had wasted most of the 1 day we had available to move our home, and we then had to HAGGLE with them to get customer service. When we had to go back and forth with some person on a phone that they find us a truck, we went to that THIRD LOCATION where the person running that place wasn't notified we were taking his last truck. So not only did uhaul screw over the customers, they screwed over the small business owner renting out the truck. Bottom line is I shouldn't have to HAGGLE for customer service. UHaul obviously doesn't care about the customers at all. They made my moving experience miserable and screwed over a group of people in the process. I'm demanding an apology and reparations.
Undoubtedly the best Uhaul experience I've ever had. The customer service was phenomenal as well as everything else. I've already recommended them to my neighbors that will be going through a move in the next month or so

First of all, the truck was literally dumping coolant everywhere we went. The front suspension was about to drop off the truck. And then I returned it with really close to the half a tank I was supposed to return it with, cuz how do you estimate that, and I got phone call after phone call about the maybe one gallon under. Are you sertious ?
No comment. It was in a shady part of town to me was also miss informed on my quote and charged more than what I expected.

I didn't originally book at this location and I'm not sure why this was my pickup location. An hour drive from my location. Something was weird with scheduling.
Rental experience was a nightmare. No fault of the people I rented it from, but I couldn't pick up at my first location, then the second location didn't have it and only called me 30 min prior to scheduled time. Had to drive an extra 100 miles round trip that i hadn't planned.
I was told I could pick up at a different location then above at 8am. I received a message saying I had to pick up at this location instead the morning of pick up. I was at the new pick up location at 8 am and no one was there.....waited until 8:30 am then had to leave. received a call from uhaul just before 9am to confirm new pick up location and told them I would have to come back around noon because they were not open yet. Frustrating experience waist of time and fuel to go an hour out of my way and deal with that.
