Jin CThe counter guy was efficient in checking us out, but not helpful when we had issues with the app trying to upload photos of additional truck scratches that weren't apparent to us in the "starting condition" photos. He just shrugged and said he didn't know anything. Struggling with the app took so long (and was ultimately unsuccessful) that we were getting into rush hour so we took a bunch of photos and video and just left. The counter guy mentioned as we left that we had a 1/4 tank and to be sure it was returned that way. We hadn't compared our mileage and gas tank fill against that stated in the contract but fortunately had taken a photo of the dash before setting off. As we started driving, we noticed the tank was actually only 1/8 full. That discrepancy caused me to check the contract and saw it incorrectly stated the tank as 1/4 full, even though it was only 1/8, and also incorrectly stated an odometer reading almost 40 miles LESS than our photo showed as the actual starting odometer. Since that was a significant portion of our mileage allotment on our one-way rental, I called the main dispatch U-Haul people (the ones who called me ahead of pickup), rather than the counter guy at the pickup location since he was presumably the one who filled out the contract with the bad info. The main dispatch person was very helpful, and contacted our drop-off location to advise them to add the miles onto our allotment. She said she couldn't do anything about the gas tank but said it was good we had a time-stamped photo of the gas gauge and could show it to the drop-off people if needed. Ultimately we didn't need to do that since it turned out we had overbought gas.
