Your customer service was terrible I spent 1 30 minutes never talked to anyone
I made my reservation online and opted to pick up my U-Haul in person. I arrived at the location and the person working told me I needed to download the app. I did so, but after checking in, it still prompted me to go to the counter. I told a second person about this and he said I'd downloaded the wrong app. After mucking around on the U-Haul website, I was prompted again to go to the counter. After an hour and 3 different Ace's employees telling me different things, I finally got the truck. I wouldn't use this location again. More trouble than it was worth.
People in location did not help at all. I had chosen to pick keys at store and they did not help at all. I had call customer care and it took lot of time to connect as well as figure out things so I lost 1 hour. Uhaul app & website were quite unstable and I had try many times. Hope digital experience will be enhanced soon.
not an app friendly store, they were not listed as as provide for online check in. The door on the uhaul was stick up, open and we were not able to close it.

The location wasn't the problem , the problem was with online check in and this has happened before. It's awful I never got code after saying my online was done . I was on hold for 40 mins and never got through. Thankfully they accommodated me inside store but I was late to where I needed to be . Not sure I will ever do online again
The original location had no vehicle available and no one to help me. Would have been nice to have received a text or email to let me know instead of me having to track someone down. The manager (Danielle) at Arties was absolutely wonderful and made Uhaul look good! She was kind, patient and efficient.
The app I used was way too long and difficult.
The contactless pickup was a mess. Never got code to unlock lockbox, had to go inside after all
I made the reservation online, and for unknown reason I had an extremely difficult time with the downloaded app. Not only did I have to create a password multiple times, but it claimed my location services were not on when they were. As I result, I had to ask for help within the store that was extremely irritating to the staff, and through their actions let me know I was an interruption of their time. My only recommendation would be to make sure it is clearly stated that you must use the app through the entire process. It did ask me to enter my driver's license number which I did, but I was scolded by staff and told I didn't upload a picture of it. In my defense, I was not prompted to do it. This was a 7am reservation, and I can understand a bit of crabbiness on the hottest day of the year In AZ later in the afternoon but not first thing in the morning. The use of the vehicle and the service you provide is great if it does not involve interpersonal communication.
It would be nice just to go to this location and rent the truck! I appreciate your concerns for Covid-19 and that the only way to rent the truck is through your app - but your app needs a lot of work and is time consuming! I have rented this truck once each month for the last 4 months and I'm extremely (that my way of saying 'Fucking') tired of using your app. I needed to change the time of my truck rental and I had to call Arnie's directly as your app couldn't do it. When I got there this morning to get the truck your app was at a loss of my picking the truck up and I had to go inside to get the truck. I was able to check out ok - but took a lot longer than had I just been able to drop off the key. Fix your app. My time is important as well. Stephen

Worst rental experience I have ever had. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone.
Fix problems with application/web browser for rental. This was exceptionally poor and made moving much more stressful.
Apparently the Covid19 has made it impossible to check out at Ace Hardware and I had to do it through your app. Your app and check in and check out is the WORST!!! In the app I had to enter all of my personal info, Credit Card, Driver's License etc. Then I scheduled the truck. Then I get to Ace to get my truck and click on your link you sent me and I have to do everything all over again through your web page! Stupidity! Who came up with that idea? Your process was like being in the stone age. I'm used to going to ACE and in 10 minutes walking out with the keys and be on my way. Forget the app process. It took me over a 1/2 hour in 104 degree heat on the black top by the truck to be able to get the keys and be on my way. I understand there is Covid19 - but there has to be a better way. Once I got the truck everything was great until I had to go through your stupid process of returning it. I shot photos and it sat there.......then it told me I had to shoot more photos as apparently it didn't save them.....again took me a 1/2 hour to check out. Some of us value our time apparently you do not value the time of your customers. I'm very disgruntled!
The pick up and drop off process was a pain. Using the online check in didn't record all my information and I had to go in the store. Incomplete instructions to drop off as well.
The app is too slow and time consuming
The use of the app was the worst experience ever. because of this I will never use uhaul and tell everyone I know not use uhaul again.
Everything (almost everything) went great overall. I say almost everything because there was a some slight fallbacks in my case. - The website wouldn't let me add the driver's date of birth and the expiration date. Whenever I would submit the form for the Primary Driver, these two fields would get cleared as soon as I clicked on the submit button, therefore the page wouldn't let me go through. After trying on the mobile website, it wouldn't let me put the driver's license number, then I downloaded the app, and the same issue with the license number, but it got fixed by adding the letter D at the beginning of the number. Suggestion here? ... Tell the developers to be aware of this and let users know that we need to add the 'D' at the beginning of the license number field. The location I went to pick up the pick up truck was at the parking next to the Paradise Valley Ace Hardware store located at 13811 N Tatum Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85032. - I was able to return the pick-up with the app (5PM), everything went great here. - My mistake in the process of getting the keys for the pick-up for the first time, was that I did not write down the key-code number for the keys container (a black box), so when I went to return them at this box, ... I forgot the number! I'd say, my fault here. I got stuck here, the key box is right next to the entrance of the hardware store, and the employees there couldn't help me with it because everyone was saying that I should use the app or contact U-Haul. So I did, but... I learned that the app doesn't have a chat option and the only way to contact is through a phone call, same with the mobile web app. Also, I didn't find any information with in the app or web-app about this key-code. I received it through a chat with a person, and then the chat conversation got deleted. (I should have written it down.) I called them but after a while I got transferred to another department that would help me with it, but ... nothing happened after (no tone, nothing). The feeling was a bit uncomfortable being stuck in front of the store not knowing what else to do while having the car keys with me, the employees couldn't help me completely, and it was almost closing hours for the hardware store (6PM). Until one of them (employees) gave me the address of one of the U-Haul locations at 13641 N 32nd St, Phoenix, AZ 85032. So I drove over there, and after some time the employee helped me and gave me the number for the box (6:57PM). Drove back to where I was before, and I was able to open the key-box container! :) Suggestions? Keep the key-code the key container boxes in the app, in the rental profile information, in case ... this happens to someone else. Besides this small hiccup, ... everything was nice.
I didn't realize that this would be an online pickup, and the whole process was very time consuming as I spent the greater part of an hour on the phone With customer support trying to get the app to work. Only to find that the staff there who kept telling me I had to use the key box outside that they aren't part of U-Haul realize that they would in fact have to open the truck to get me the key.

Was over-charged for mileage. The clerk didn't verify mileage at time of pick-up. Spoke to manager, told me I was responsible and "I signed the contract." Very dissatisfied.
I had to remove the dolly to get my pallet in the truck. Not ideal since I didn't use the dolly but would still get charged for use. Would have preferred to not even have it in the way.
