This location is a small lot next to the 55 Freeway and it has a good variety of trucks and vans. I reserved a van and it was ready for pickup as scheduled. During pickup, I was given specific instructions about returning the van after hours and where to park my personal car in the meantime. The fuel tank in my van began at 30% and I was only planning to drive 25 miles. I was told not to add more fuel unless my plans changed, because that amount would be sufficient for a short trip. Indeed, the gauge only dropped from 30% to 20% before I returned the van. Upon return, the low fuel level resulted in an extra $57 of fuel service surcharges that nearly doubled the total cost of my rental. I was certain that I was following the instructions given to me, but concluded that a careful omission had probably been designed into the instructions to generate a bigger fee. I feel certain that no fuel was added before renting out the van again, making that $57 surcharge pure profit for the dealer. It's a clever scheme, but one that will send me to a different company next time.
