I was sent to this location after my original location (in DC) did not have my truck ready (the key was unavailable/inaccessible). The Stamp Road location was a 30+ minute uber drive away, which was an unexpected expense. The Stamp road location was not well lit and felt unsafe, and the directions to access the key were unclear resulting in the pickup taking two hours once I arrived at this location. I spent over an hour on hold on the phone while also communicating with U-Haul over the chat feature. Also, the truck’s gas tank was only one quarter filled. In all, the pickup for my truck took about 3.5 hours, delayed my move across the country, and added unexpected costs because I was forced to hire help to assist in loading and unloading the truck because the delayed pickup caused me to not have the truck at the appropriate locations when my family and friends had time off work. Similarly, this created issues with my own work schedule. Going forward, I would advise staff to ensure keys are always easily accessible for after-hour pick-ups and increased staff responsiveness/availability for support for after-hour pick-ups. Also, partial or complete refunds for customers who have had experiences like mine would help to remedy the consequences resulting from poor experiences and increase good faith in U-Haul.
