We arrived to pick up our van only to find that the dashboard display said there was 0 miles of gas left, and the van engine would only turn over a few times and then stop. The manager told us that the gas must have been siphoned off during the night and that this happens frequently at this location. He gave us a gas can he had handy so that we could go get gas ourselves at the nearest gas station, and after we got the van started from the can we had to go back to the gas station to fill up. We then barely made it to our Sacramento appointment before they closed. When we dropped the van off next day and complained about the delay and the need for us to fix the gas problem ourselves, the manager said we should be grateful that he didn't just cancel the reservation. When we asked why he didn't check that reserved vehicles had gas, he said that he didn't have anyone to do that and he didn't have the time. He said that in the future when a customer's reserved vehicle has no gas when they arrive for pickup, he will cancel the reservation and the customer will need to find another option.
