I rented a truck before Thanksgiving. I paid in full because my FIL passed away and my MIL was moving in with us. So, the move was from Ohio to Florida. First, they did not hook the car on correctly. The man who took it off said they did not even have it on right at all. Secondly, they charged a bogus charge that noone can explain. I have talked to Uhaul 4 times to get this resolved and keep getting the run around. I hesitated to leave the review because I was giving them time to rectify the charge. I paid in full, have a receipt and my husband had to pay a charge for them to release the truck. I called and talked to customer service and they say they have worked there 6 years and never seen this type of charge. However, don't have the power to refund me.

I reserved a 20' truck about a week in advance, when i went to pick it up on the date and time i set, they didn't have it and i had to get the only thing they had available, a 15' truck. I ended up having to do an extra trip because of that, and eventually ran out of time.

This was a night drop so I didn't see anyone, but I had no problems. No accidents and all was fine. I saw the truck all locked up in the yard the next day. It looked fine.

The storage area of the truck was somewhat dirty. I think I was chargef $5.00 for cleaning up after the previous tenter.

I ordered 4 dozen moving pads 3 weeks ahead of the move. The pick up location had ZERO pads. Thus the movers could only pack the truck approximately 3/4 high and not all of my items could be put into the truck. I have to rent a small truck or trailer and do another 4 hour round trip because of this!! If the blankets were not available as per my reservation, somebody from U-Haul should have called me BEFORE the move to inform me!!

Rented truck on Saturday morning because I was told I had to be there before noon cause they close and were not open on Sunday even tho I was not able to have someome picked the truck up for me until after 1 p.m. So I was there to do contract and pick up keys, I ask Larry the guy working that didn't seem to know what he was doing to start with, what time I had to return the truck, I was told that it is suppose to be 24 hour rental but they were closed the next day so just return any time and put the keys in the drop box then come in Monday and we would figure up mileage and finalize paperwork since I had put a 100.00 deposit up. Then I get a call at 8:03 Sunday morning telling me u-haul rented the truck and I needed to return it by 8:30 a.m. or I would be charged for another day. When I arrived there was another lady that had rented a bigger truck that they did not have and they tried to send her to Washington Pa. and when she refused to go then they called me and demanded I return the truck I had because they told her they could get her the next size down. When I express my disappointments in how things were done and I will never rent from u-haul again then Larry tells me I will see you never rent from u-haul cause I'm going to put your name in the system. Like I am the one who screwed up. Larry and u-haul are the ones renting trucks that you don't have. And when I got back home Larry was on my answering machine sometime last night about returning the truck at 8:30 a.m. so if I was originally suppose to return it at that time then why would he call my answering machine, I will tell you why. Because he told me to return the truck later since we was not picking it up until after 1:00 p.m. He knew exactly what he told me, then someone messed up and they called and threaten me if I didn't return the truck I would be charged for another day. If I was suppose to return by 8:30 a.m. when someone was there, why would I be told to put the keys in the dropbox and told to come in Monday to do final paper work.

They weren't open for my dropoff, so I had to unhook/unstrap my car myself, and drive it off the trailer with no assistance. It was extremely inconvenient and unsafe, and UHaul/ASAP Auto should have notified me so I could have brought help. Also, there was very little space to leave the truck.

It's convenient for U-Haul that I can only review the pick up and drop off locations and not the company itself. I reserved a truck quite a few days in advance. U-Haul calls me the DAY BEFORE and cancels. Meanwhile, I have to be out of my apartment the day I scheduled the move. They told me MAYBE one location would have a truck for me the next morning provided that one was returned to the drop-off location. Well that didn't happen. So I had to scramble and load cars and trucks of friends and fill all of their tanks up with gas for their troubles. The day after I was supposed to have a truck, I received a call from the pick-up location letting me know they had a truck available if I wanted one. I had luckily gotten another day from my landlord to gat the furniture out, so I accepted the truck. You'd think since I was inconvenienced I would have gotten a discount or something, but sure enough, I paid full price. And the only reason I even ended up with the truck was because the person from my pick-up location was in on his day off and remembered me and offered. So the reason I had a truck had nothing to do with U-Haul itself. I promise to never use U-Haul again. This was an unacceptable experience. They overbook, and then offer no solution to their customers.



I had a bad experience overall. There was no pre-tow inspection of my car and I suffered for it. I blew a cylinder in my engine trying to tow a trailer that shouldn't have been rented to me.
