Ancient Rainforest Like Nowhere Else on Earth - Ketchikan
An elusive raptor called a goshawk

Unveiling Event

On May 13, 2007, U-Haul Company of Alaska and the U-Haul Media and Public Relations Department teamed up with the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage during their 5th Annual Migratory Bird Day Festival to unveil the latest SuperGraphic, representing the state of Alaska. Marketing Company President (MCP) John Norris, UHC of Alaska (Co.826), spoke to an excited crowd before the veil was drawn and the elusive Northern goshawk and the Tongass National Forest SuperGraphic was officially revealed to the public.

The official U-Haul SuperGraphic unveiling kicked off the 5th Annual Migratory Bird Day with this year's theme focusing on global climate change and birds. Guests were invited to participate in environmentally friendly conservation games in which U-Haul partnered with the Alaska Zoo to educate the public about the importance of global climate change, the Tongass National Forest and the Northern goshawk raptor. Norris and his crew from U-Haul Company of Alaska along with the Media and Public Relations Department participated in a sustainability-station game that taught children and adults the concept of "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle." Guests who visited the U-Haul station received a tire-pressure gauge and were taught that keeping the correct tire pressure will help to conserve gas and will also reduce the amount of carbon emissions being released into the environment.

U-Haul chose to depict the Northern goshawk raptor and Tongass National Forest in Alaska because the Tongass National Forest is the rarest, most majestic type of forest found on Earth and is home to many species of wildlife, including the goshawk raptor. The Northern goshawk is one of several hundred species making its home in this increasingly rare, remote mixture of mountain peaks, glaciers and rivers. Well known for their fierceness, beauty and remarkable flight skills, Northern goshawks rule the Tongass.
