Kia EV6 (2022) hitch installation steps

1. Remove the bumper fascia

Prior to installation, we will need to prep the vehicle’s underbody for the hitch. We will start by removing the vehicle’s fascia panel. To remove this fascia panel you will need to detach its six plastic push pins, three 10mm bolts, and one 14mm plastic nut.

2. Trim lower bumper fascia

After the fascia panel is removed, we will need to trim it according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Once measured, this trim can be completed using an air saw.

3. Disconnect harness

On the drive’s side of the vehicle frame, the electric harness will need to be disconnected while the hitch is being installed.

4. Trim rear fascia

Another trim will be needed on the rear fascia panel.

5. Raise hitch into position

With the underbody of the vehicle properly prepped, the hitch can now be raised into place.

6. Install the hardware

Install the provided hardware to the proper access points of the hitch and the vehicle’s frame. All six M12 19mm bolts and conical washers will need to be installed.

6. Tighten and torque the hitch

After the provided hardware has been properly installed, we will need to tighten and torque according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

7. Re-install the removed fascia panel

With the hitch installation complete, don’t forget to re-install the removed fascia panel with its attachments.

You should now have your trailer hitch installed on your Kia EV6.
