In other words, this hitch has a higher GTW than the Toyota RAV4 itself. All things considered, you want a trailer hitch with the highest possible weight rating, and this product has a tongue weight of 675 lbs. and a gross trailer weight of 4,500 lbs.

However, removable side plates allow an installer to first bolt the side plates in by themselves, then affix the cross tube in place. This method is significantly easier.
The removable side plates also allow the hitch to be folded into a more compact and secure box which reduces the likelihood of damage to the hitch during shipping.
