If there’s one thing Kansas City is known for, it’s their barbecue! With over 100 barbecue restaurants and multiple popular cooking contests held within the city, partaking in the city’s most famous dish is a must! Born out of a gas station and convenience store, Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que is one of the city’s premier barbecue joints. In 2014, Yelp ranked them #3 on their 100 Places to Eat in the US list.
Entertainment
There are countless ways to have fun in Kansas City! Take a spin or cool down at Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun, a top-notch amusement and water park all-in-one! You can drive nine minutes from the Missouri-side of Kansas City to the Kansas side to take on Verrückt; the World’s Tallest Water Slide at Schlitterbahn. Get sentimental at the Hallmark Visitor’s Center or pay homage to a page in history at the National World War I Museum.
Sports
From September through December, you can watch the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL) play in Arrowhead Stadium, which currently holds the Guinness World Record for loudest stadium. Beginning in the spring and through early fall, you can partake in America’s Favorite Pastime by catching the Kansas City Royals.
Education
Kansas City is home to many fine colleges and universities, including Columbia College, Kansas City Art Institute, and University of Missouri-Kansas City.
