I was supposed to drop off at 1095 ozone dr. We went during business hours and open sign was turned and on but no one was there and doors were all locked. I called listed number 4 times but no answer. After waiting 20 mins I called Apple Mill who were very very helpful and allowed me to drop there. I would go to Apple Mill over the other location every time.

The size truck we reserved was not there when we arrived (14 foot) despite making a reservation two Or three weeks in advance. A guy came in after me also looking for a 15 footer he reserved which also Was not there. We took the 10 footer that was available and luckily made it work. Then the lady at the desk said the charge would be $35 MORE than what was online for the 14 foot. When I asked how that could be she said “supply and demand” was U Haul policy. Outrageous! Only when she entered the drop off point did the rate go down. The lady at the counter was very nice but EXTREMELY slow and obviously not good with computers. It timed out at one point and she had to start over. I don’t know why she just couldn’t modify my earlier reservation to the 10 foot truck but she said she had to do a new reservation. Took forever. Then she said I had to go online and cancel the old reservation! Crazy. What is the point of making a reservation if you are not going to ensure the truck is st the location you want? We could have gotten a larger truck by going into Hendersonville but if I had wanted to go 15 miles to pick it up there I would have made the reservation there to begin with.

due to no fault of of the Apple Mill my U-Haul was not ready at the time I reserved it. I WILL no longer book a u-haul on line. THIS COST ME TIME AND NONEY. i This was not a product with pick up, but a problem with your online reservations.\ In addition I did not receive any info from your company about a change. I am very unhappy with U-Haul and will not use you in the future. The Apple Mill in Saluda, NC when out of there way to help me solve my problem, Whereas you folks did nothing.

The 15 ft box leaked and potentially damaged our antiques and some of the linens that we were moving. That was bad enough, but then the turn in fiasco.... No one was at the APPLE MILL location in Saluda NC to accept turn in during listed hours. Called UHAUL, they said leave vehicle and put key in drop box. UHaul called and texted me on Tuesday after the Saturday turn in and wanted to know where the vehicle was! They said don't worry about it after I explained the call and previous turn in. Then I checked an email that showed final receipt for the 4 extra miles used and it reflected 3 days extra charge... but that hasn't been charged to my cc YET. Uhaul assures me that it shouldn't.. Will have to really consider this experience if I am to use Uhaul again.

This was not my preferred pick-up location. While I'm glad that this location was close-ish to where I was living, it did have the equipment that I had reserved, which I appreciated. This location was not staffed well enough to assist me with the equipment; the owner of the apple mill/country store was the only employee that day, and she was not capable of physically handling the equipment. While I was more physically able, we did need to call one of her family members to assist us. Once the family member arrived, things went quickly and smoothly. Moving is very stressful, and I had a limited amount of time to pick up my equipment. I spent over an hour at this location in order to pick up and hook up ONE trailer. I have rented numerous trailers from Uhaul and have never had this experience before. This experience will have me re-considering using Uhaul in the future.

Picked up our UHaul at the Apple Mill in Saluda, NC. for my moving my mother. They were so friendly and helpful. The UHaul in Columbus, N.C. where my mom lived was closed on Saturday and Sunday! So I hope this place gets a lot of business!

Nothing...these guys were delightful and easy to work with. The owner even offered to reduce our bill, something UHaul and River Edge and Mathis Ferry did not do. Ironic since the Apple Mill people had done nothing to cause problems.

Location did not have available manpower to get trailer on the hitch. Because trailer was parked in a muddy area, made it difficult to do this without jacking the trailer and backing under the hitch. Took a lot more time than it probably should have. Though the woman assisting me, was very kind and helpful, this would not have worked if i was someone that did not know how to hitch a trailer.

Owner Carolyn, was very helpful w my short move memorial may/june move saluda to saluda; again very helpful w my move monday 8-1-11 tuesday 8-2-11 and the weekend before; the uhaul business in davenport, ia on hickory grove 8-5-11 was very helpful, qui9ck to turn in, i have always used uhaull 1997 juneau, alaska to iowa; 2004 iowa to illinois; 2009 iowa to nc; now again nc to iowa; usually more locations, internet, and local office reduce rates, and will add a day to turn in, which very helpful, thanks, paul w reid 8-13-2011

Overall, my experience with U-haul was poor and I would recommend to a friend to use any company other than U-haul. I was inconvenienced greatly throughout the entire rental process. Initially, I was told by a regional representative that a truck would be available at 11am at one pick up location 40 miles from the preferred location and then upon arriving there was no truck available. Customer service in the Swannanoa River Rd. location in Asheville, NC was terrible. No one was able to help resolve the issue or even try to assist. I waited in the store for over an hour before being told I would need to drive to another city an hour away to pick up the truck. The customer service call center was unable to help also. I was not compensated for the mistakes of the company other than a $50 refund which is guaranteed if the company does not meet their agreement of location/pick up time. I was extremely unhappy with the service and will not use U-haul in the future due to such a terrible experience. I am not an unreasonable customer and very rarely complain. If a mistake is made, it should be corrected. Had the issue been resolved and had I been compensated for my time/travel/expenses I would not hesitate to recommend U-haul and use U-haul again myself in the future. Unfortunately, none of those things were handled in an appropriate manner so I will never use U-haul again. (the Apple Mill U-haul on Ozone Rd. had no part of the problem. Service there was great.)

Make sure the equipment is available where it says it is when customers make the reservation online. I arrived at the pickup location on time, didn't see a trailer the size I'd reserved, had to wait ten minutes for anyone to show up, and then learned they weren't going to have the right trailer. Got sent to another location half an hour away and was almost there when I got a call that they didn't have the right trailer either. Steve from Hendersonville, NC, said he'd bring one to Pierce's Tire in Tryon, at my request. I was there waiting when he called and asked me to meet him at Durham's in Columbus instead, 15 minutes back where I'd just been. The trailer itself was fine when I finally got it. I would have understood one snafu and change of plans, but this many is hard to comprehend.
