online system does not work smoothly. Could not scan back of driver's license using the directions online. Had to wait almost 45 minutes for customer service. Once customer service came on was fairly smooth but apparent that the directions given online were not the ones needed to enable scanning to occur. Also after waiting almost one hour to get key and drive off the time to return did not allow for the delay.Richard D.
Once I overcame my nervousness of completing the entire process online; the steps were easy and well explained. The online process was very challenging to someone that is older or not super tech savvy. Even my son was having problems during the pickup. The owner of the business was rude and said basically why would he help someone if he is not getting a piece of it (meaning since we did not order through him originally). He finally did offer his assistance for which i was grateful but i have no wish to go through that experience again. If I need to rent a truck again, I would explore all other options before going back.KATHRYN B.
1) The rental location is too small and it makes backing out with a truck difficult. 2) The manager was not wearing a mask and he kept coming within 3 feet of me to talk to me. 3) The cab of the truck was beyond disgusting and cab wreaked of cigarette smoke. 4) The truck was really old. The shift handle was very loose and shifting into reverse was difficult. I will never rent from U-haul again. There are way to many other options available to put up with this kind of service.Linda L.
I was told I would receive a credit and I didn't I drove in town 4 different times, 6 blocks each each. I paid for 60mile? I was told to be back at 10:30. I was there at 9 waiting and then had to pay for an extra day because they made mistake and I needed to be back by 8:30. I was even charged for a key. I gave the owner the key. Unbelievable!!!! The people at the pickup location were not very professional or knowledgeable about UHaul. When we arrived at their opening time (8:00 a.m.) and said we had a reservation that was moved to their location, they initially seemed confused and said that the employee who handles the UHaul reservations doesn't arrive until 9:00. They also made a couple negative comments about UHaul around changing people's reservation locations at the last minute. It was annoying that our reservation was moved 30+ minutes away each way from where we wanted it, but to have the dealer make negative comments about UHaul was surprising. We also received no information about returning/what to do with the truck or any sort of receipt, they just handed us the keys and that was it. I had to get a receipt for the initial billing at the UHaul location where we dropped it off at. All in all we got our truck fine and everything worked out, but it wasn't a positive experience.Elizabeth S.
I picked up a Uhaul cargo van from Dan's auto body, and to my surprise, I find 2 charges on my bank account for approximately 15 and 45 dollars. After investigating, I found an email saying I was being charged a cleaning fee and a late fee for the late payment of the cleaning fee. I returned the van exactly how I found it with everything cleared out, and triple checked everything. I am not responsible for cleaning up other peoples messes when I pick up the van before using it. So I called the shop to try and clear it up and whoever was on the other line cut me off, told me it was a "done deal", and literally started swearing at me over the phone when I questioned him how wooden furniture could produce a pile of drywall and salt. I would NOT recommend to this location unless you want to be robbed of your hard earned money. Even when I was picking up the van, he was getting visibly upset because someone else was picking up at the same time and he didn't take the time to sort the issue, which was solved in a matter of minutes. The attitude at the shop was unacceptable and this is literally the worst customer service I have ever had. STAY AWAY!Benjamin G.

Have accurate information on the pick up site. U-haul informed me the remote pickup site would be opened at 8 am Saturday. The pickup location was not opened at ALL on the weekend! We drove from out of State to a closed location. We did not get a 24 hour notification. I had to call and u-haul said "Oh, it seems it was just entered". To add to the mess, 'someone' had canceled our reservation we found out when we called u-haul at the pickup site! We're just glad we got to the remote pickup location early, otherwise we would not have had a truck! Plus, when we got to the u-haul where our stuff was stored, the u-haul had a ROW of trucks! The official u-haul location didn't know why we were sent to Fox Lake when they had trucks available! I've had issues with u-haul in the past and thought I had everything covered for this move, double checked the time and location-wrong! How can a person plan when given wrong information! I hope I don't have to move again! We want to thank Dan's Auto Body (the remote pickup location)! They were wonderful! Remember: they were closed but Dan and his wife went out of their way to help us.Bonita S.

First of all i had to wait 2 hours just to get the truck keys in 20 degress cold. They did not provide a key code to unlock compartment to get the keys. The truck was not well cleaned and when i went to drop off the truck the manager is being rude and stating the truck is not clean and charging me 25 dollars extra. When i returned the truck it was in much better condition than i picked it up. This is worst service i will never rent again from this place. I need a refund for 25 of the cleaning and some credit. Because the cleaning i already had done it before returning the truck and they are charging me for the work that i did my self.Sachinbhai P.

I followed the instructions per the pamphlet. I locked the keys in the truck for drop-off. The agent said they charged me an extra $50 for locking the truck. I am disputing this charge.Felicia M.
Take a picture of the location specific key dropoff you want used. Also let people know that pickup and dropoff take about 15 minutes so arrive 15-30 minutes early to complete the process especially if it is your first time picking up and you are unfamiliar with the process.It was my first time picking up from an unattended facility.Donna G.

Location from renting wa great. BUT UHAUL customer service not great. I had issues with checking the truck out and COULD NOT get a hold of any one at the customer service number. All they wanted was for me to leave a review per the automated answering machine. I NEEDED HELP NOT TO LEAVE A REVIEW!!!! BAD BAD BAD. This rental experience was challenging. Truck was supposed to be at UHaul near my house, but was told last minute had to pick up truck nearly 20 miles away. Then when there, UHaul changed my reservation time to 430pm, from 9am. I had people waiting on me. Brenna (i think was her name) found me the correct truck at a location near my house, so had to drive all the way back to pick up the truck there, instead. Truck was clean, but location only had 8 blankets available, instead of 12. The location I picked up truck from, the guys were very friendly and accommodating. Kudos to them and Brenna for making the experience better quickly.Paul N.
The cab smelled bad. It was not overwhelming (it probably would have been to my wife, who was never in it). Everyone who got in, noticed and said something. Truck was in good shape and location was very convenient and well maintained.john W.

The online return was hard to manage as you had to go out to get an email with your code and everytime u go back in it wants to send a new code. Was confusing and frustrating. Then the amounts were wrong tried to charge 2 days and milage was wrong no one had correct numbers. It has taken many calls and poor response to correct situation. I would only recommend face to face rental and drop off DONT do over phone!!! Very dissatisfied with uhaul!!!tammy A.

The only issue I had was the age of the truck and or lack of modern accessories to make driving easier and more enjoyable for a long trip. The truck had manual Windows, mirrors, no stereo, fixed seats. Adding a back up camera would be outstanding. This has nothing to do with the location. The location had friendly staff and were great. the pick up was a quick and efficient.Paul S.

Hi, I wanted to inform you about the service we received yesterday. We got an email saying we were guaranteed our uhaul truck at 8am for pickup at the fox lake, IL location yesterday. We got there at 8:05 and the business owner informed us that the lady who had the truck the day before still hadn't returned it. She was supposed to return it the night before according to the owner. He even said "I knew I shouldn't have trusted her." So he called the lady and she told him she'd be at the shop in 15 minutes tops. Well we waited and she didn't arrive until an hour later! 9am. My husband and I were livid, because that wasted an hour of moving time and I had three young kids with me. So we were not at all pleased with that experience. If there is any way to oblige us we would greatly appreciate it. U-Haul ON LINE CAN DO A MUCH BETTER JOB OF EXPLAINING RENTAL OPTIONS AND ALL IPLICATIONS OF USAGE. wE FOUND LATER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE COST EFECTIVE TO RENT A LOCAL TRUCK AND DRIVE IT ROUND TRIP. YOUR ON-LINE SIGN-UP PROCEDURE IS CUMBERSOME, LACKING IN CLARITY, AND DIFICULT TO NAVGATE TROUGH FOR THE CORRECT TYPE OF USAGE.Susan B.
