My issue is with U-Haul's reservation system. While I waited until the night of 7/13 to reserve a truck for 7/14 for a one-way trip from Blacksburg, VA, to Fairfax, VA, due to some uncertainty with when to schedule a move, I requested a 10-foot truck for pick-up at a location in Blacksburg, which the system confirmed at the time. However, I then received an email overnight that I was instead being given a 15-foot truck at a location an hour south of Blacksburg. Why wasn't I told at the time I was placing the reservation that U-Haul couldn't fulfill my request? I would have chosen a 10-foot truck from the Springfield, VA, location where I dropped off the truck since it clearly had plenty of 10-foot trucks. While the 20-foot truck was better on gas mileage than i expected, it still cost over $75 to drive it from Christiansburg to Blacksburg and then to Springfield. When I called on 7/14 to ask why I was being asked to drive 1 hour south of where I had requested and was being given a 15-foot rather than 10-foot truck, the person I was speaking to was very helpful, but I was never given the option of doing a round-trip rental if it would be less time-consuming and difficult. I was not very comfortable dealing with a 20-foot truck on Route 81 and Route 66 in Virginia.JAMESG M.

The UHAUL app is a great Idea ... but it has some serious bugs that need to be fixed. I have tried to use it twice and it has not worked either time. end up having to finish my reservations in the office .Chris B.
One word, EXPENSIVE. Otherwise I have no complaints. After filling up the tank and paying everything else, it cost over 200 to rent a uhaul and make 2 trips from radford to dublin. We even were living in a place less than a minute from the place we got the uhaul from so it took less than a mile to get to the home after renting the uhaul.Casey S.

The location was closed during what their website said was normal business hours. There were no signs to indicate where the key boxes were. The truck did not have the furniture pads in it. When I called the contact number for pickup, there was no answer the first three times. I finally got someone later that day and was told that they did not have pads at that location, but that she could not issue a credit for what we paid for the pads. The truck steering wheel and door handles (interior) were sticky, and the front windshield was covered with bugs - my first stop was at a gas station so I could clean the windshield so I could see well enough to drive.Jacqueline H.

Hey UHaul, allow reservation to go through at pickup! Truck was ready but salesperson couldn't check in online nor could I with app check in. Called UHaul but no response. Luckily, salesperson was able to get another truck for me. Harris Self Storage location, and specifically salesperson Lisa, were great, two thumbs up! Uhaul service was bad this situation, thumbs down. Much better experience with UHaul in the past.David C.

I reserved a 20 foot truck over a week before I needed it. I checked the reservation the night before moving and everything was still fine, but the morning of my reservation had changed and was now 77 miles away instead of down the street. I call customer support and they spend half an hour looking for something else and ultimately find a moving van in the next town over. Not what I wanted, not where I wanted to get it, but I still make the drive out and try to pick up the van. Only problem is that I'm verbally assaulted by the personal running the dumpy gas station. Call up the field manager, she is then screamed at in half-english half-indian. I then spend the next hour on hold or talking with the field manager and her supervisor and finally find another van (that was closer to where I wanted originally???). Wasted half the day just trying to get a vehicle before ending up at Harris Self Storage. No discount, no refund (yet). Absolute bullshit company.Thomas M.

I was unable to use the self photo on pick up day, which took 35 minutes, 4 phone calls (two of which I was hung up on), and a phone check in, to get me on the way. I was late picking up my furniture. I am not happy with the app. I was very frustrated, and in addition to that, was charged way too much for what should have been an easy pick up.Amy M.
Left brake light/ left turn signal light was out. I also had some trouble finding an electrical extension that would work. It would be nice if a universal plugin could be offered...one which would fit the plug on every vehicle. But I can't praise Harris Rentals enough. Great business to work with. we only used the truck for about 3.5 hours - it would be nice if there was a rate to use it for a smaller amount of time. we also paid for extra gas in the vehicle- ii guess the person before did not fill it up. Service person stayed late to meet with me. My experience with this location was good, but my overall U-haul experience was poor. The truck had 11 more miles on it than listed in the contract , which I was charged for. U-haul changed my check out location shortly before pickup, which barely gave me time to reach the new location (and added over an hour driving to pickup and drop off the vehicle.) Further, the accessory I requested (furniture dolly) was not available.Mark L.

This was the third location scheduled for me to pick up the equipment I had scheduled for rental. I had originally scheduled this dolly several weeks prior to my need. I finally got the dolly a day late and over an hour from my home. I understand the logistical difficulties in scheduling in a dynamic environment but there is room for improvement here.ED C.

They did a Great Job. The problem I had was when I booked this U-Haul online and the associate called me to confirm. NO ONE told me the 10 FT trucks DO NOT have a pull out ramp????? I was very, very disappointed. I was moving alone, a single mother of three and it's really hard to pick my boxes up and to put the heavy things onto this truck. I was anticipating a ramp so that I may roll my belongings on the truck with a dolly. I will rethink renting with the U-Haul company again. All trucks should have a pull out ramp be it 10 FT 5 FT anything. Why not make it easier on the person moving. On the trucks there was a sign that said "We have your back" Sure you do without a ramp so I may roll heavy objects on the truck. It defeated the purpose of a truck rental if I had to do all the hard work myself. I needed that ramp and I feel I should get a discount. Or maybe U-Haul should have came on over and moved my things. that was just ridiculous.Tammy L.
