I have rented from this location before. The equipment is usually well maintained and clean. I made a switch to a smaller truck which had been just dropped off so it had not been cleaned yet. Wish there was a no smoking preference for rental trucks. The previous renter left the interior cab pretty dirty and it smelled of cigarettes.Grenville C.

Especially when you have a question about the U-Haul do you are about to rent. When I picked up trailer on sweeten Creek Road Asheville the help left before helping hook up trailer. The lights were crap luckily I found another uhaul store in Winston Salem who fixed us up and got us going again. Also when you ask online where you want to pick up Equiptment how about sticking to it, I had to drive 1 hour in the other direction then an hour back to load up. So uhaul put me a good 2 hours behind schedule. Thanks for the inconvenience uhaul.John T.

When I picked up the truck it had zero gas. Part of the checkout process requires me to document with a picture. I put gas in it and completed my project and returned the truck with slightly more than empty. During the check in process also required me to take a picture and indicate the gas level which I did. They then charged me close to $70 dollars for a fuel fee because they said I can't return it with less gas than I started, which I clearly did not. It's documented in pictures!MICHAEL M.

I never received any notification whether my pod was coming on the correct day unless I sat on hold with customer service for 2 hours and waited for them to figure out if it was coming or I contacted the driver, then to find out I was supposed to be contacted ahead of time by them and never was, then the pod didn't show up when it was supposed to. While the staff tried their best, the fact that they have one driver for all of western NC AND SC is unacceptable. The driver was super nice and professional, the blame is not on her. She was spread too thin because they NEED MORE DRIVERS. I was given a confirmation date for my containers and she couldn't deliver them for 3 days later because she had so many deliveries. Shouldn't confirm a date if she was unable to do it. Uhaul as a nationwide company needs to get off its ass and hire more drivers and call center workers. You spend 30-45 minutes waiting to talk to ANYONE on the phone regardless of reason calling. Their employees have all been great, but as a company uhaul is in serious need of an overhaul in how it does business.Doug N.
This machine was a death trap that I somehow managed to survive. The breaks were horrible, they felt as though they'd never been bled or changed, I thought it was just me or the weight of my load until I noticed the crumpled impact damage from a previous customer who clearly couldn't get the truck stopped in time to prevent impact. The rear left tire was about bald creating a bad situation during wet weather and the cabin had a high pitched squeal through out the trip. At some points it almost sounded like a tire was rubbing the chassis type squeal.Larry F.

Asheville was an interim stop only. When I called to confirm final delivery I was told they do not deliver there and it was my problem. Customers should be advised that there is no parking for your personal vehicle at the time of reservation. Sure there are signs at the closest parking spots of a time limit but the property is huge. Someone would easily assume that they have parking. I simple notification at the time of reservation would have saved me 45 mins.ADRIAN D.

This is for the U-Box service: Except for the store manager (Lee from the Sweeten Creek store in Asheville, NC-- who refused to answer my phone calls, hung up on me, and never called me back), all of the staff was friendly and hard-working. The problem was the total and complete lack of equipment, back-up plans, and problem solving on management/corporate's end. I was told that each region has access to only ONE truck with a forklift on it, and on the weekend my U-Boxes were supposed to be dropped off, the truck broke down. There were no back-up plans, and I had to call multiple people and facilities to finally get someone to bring the boxes on a trailer from their personal vehicle! They then had to find a forklift because the slope of my driveway was too steep for the boxes to stay on the trailers. The store manager, Lee, refused to answer my calls, I assume, because she didn't have a solution. Terrible customer service. Once the U-Boxes arrived, the staff was friendly and professional. The boxes were picked up late, and then were dropped off at our new location a day late. This was due to lack of staff. At drop off, the staff was once again VERY friendly. Ultimately, U-Box has potential to be a great service, but due to corporate not allocating enough resources, it was a disappointment. When people are moving, they are on deadlines that a lot of the time are not flexible. When I reserve equipment on a certain day, and U-Haul confirms these dates, then I expect the equipment to be there on those dates. It is unacceptable to expect customers to change their moving plans to accommodate U-Haul's lack of resources/planning! I loved the ease of not having to drive all of my belongings. I loved the additional time I had to load and unload. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this service to others unless it is their last option. PODS and U-Pack provide a better service. I truly hope that someone will fix these problems so that others do not have to experience the stress and frustration I experienced on U-Haul's behalf.Bert U.

I flew to NC from FL and to empty out a rental property and reserved a 20' truck and when I got there I was told that "hopefully we will have one today." I did not receive a ruck till 6PM which makes the move time late into the day and the next day.robert V.

They drove by your place on sweeten....it was a great alternative. Probably better and safer then the original choice. I changed my return reservation to this location due to the friendliness of the staff and how the facility appeared while researching online compared to other facilities. When dealing with staff at my pick up location, it was a horrible experience and if I hadn't needed to use their service, I would have walked out and I have rented from uhual SEVERAL times in the past. The truck had issues and had a gas issue. It cost me over $1,100 in gas to drive 3200 miles in a 20ft truck which is completely unheard of. I have made this trip several times and NEVER had the issues I had this time. Pick up staff didn't care about the truck and it's gas (and break) issues and hung up on me. The staff here, though they couldn't do anything to change what happened on the west coast, were very sincere and very kind. Their storage units are clean and climate controlled and VERY secure. The cost per storage room is extremely high. The cost of the unit should include basic insurance coverage, it is unreasonable to require additional insurance be purchased.
