We recently moved ourselves from one house to another and hour and a half away. Everything about using U-Haul services, especially at this location, was top notch — cleanliness and security of storage facilities, availability and condition of rental trucks (5 different weekend rentals over a month and a half), and availability and price of moving supplies. Staff knowledgeable, friendly, and always helpful. Online experience (website and mobile app) intuitive and streamlined. U-Haul has it figured out.

I am extremely disappointed with U-Haul. Starting from when we first made reservations all the way to utilizing the one month free storage they offer. I’ll start off with first making the reservation. We were unable to receive a trailer for our vehicle to be moved even after we were told there is one available for us when we pick up the truck. But that is not the biggest thing I am disappointed in. Customer service at the U-Haul In Chantilly, VA. When we first received our storage unit we moved our items in. We had a few boxes that were in great shape and asked one of their employees if we could leave them there. The employee said yes as long as they were reusable. Which they were. We left the boxes there thinking we were helping others out for reuse of some boxes (We would have taken them if the employee said they didn’t allow boxes to be left). We checked out of the storage unit a few weeks later and to our surprise we were charged $60 without notice that “we left trash” at their facility. We spoke with the Storage manager who’s name was Scarlett at the Chattily, VA location who gave us no attention and was extremely rude and she stated that we left trash there and she couldn’t help us after we explained the situation. She stated that because she doesn’t know the employees name there’s nothing she could do. Worst customer service I have ever received and really discredited the companies reputation. After disputing the charge to customer service, they sent the dispute to the same Storage manager Scarlett who was already unwilling to help. This to me discredits the reputation I once viewed U-Haul of having and will no longer use U-Haul because of how poor the company has treated its customers.

It was clean, convenient, and my monthly unit rate rent was not raised one time!! which I very much appreciated. The only somewhat negative was the motion censored light in the hallway where my unit was would go off after about 5 min and then it became very dark and kind of scary so I would have to step out of my unit from what I was doing and set the light on again. Overall though, it was super convenient and user-friendly!

Make no mistake, I mean every single employee whom I have had the pleasure to deal with here has superb product and policy knowledge, and are super friendly! The prices are good for the area. I only had one rent increase and it was not so high that it made us want to leave the facility, but a somewhat fair representation of inflation. Thanks to the whole team here, please make sure the corporation takes care of you guys!

You went ahead and charge me in Advanced for the second month which I hadn’t budgeted for, but I was assured I wouldn’t be charged the second month. Then, at the beginning of the second month, I got charged anyway. The staff at the facility promptly credited me, but the only way they could do it was to close down my rental and start a new rental. You should really get that fixed. Cause I left a bad taste in my mouth as it caused me to have an overdraft charge on my bank account.
