I had a pretty frustrating move-in experience. I arrived 10 minute prior to closing in order to check in to our outdoor 10x10x8 reservation. I had made the reservation because I also used a one-way truck rental to move out of our apartment to store furniture in storage prior to moving into our new house. The one-month free storage offer was the exclusive reason why I chose to reserve with U-Haul as a very financially convenient offer. Upon arrival, the employee was not able to assign me a unit. Despite having a reservation, the computer was not letting him assign a unit. Rather than try to further troubleshoot the issue, the employee just told me that we were near closing time and there was nothing he could to do help and to come back tomorrow. I had a U-Haul truck full of items that needed to be stored on 5/24 since my family who helped with the move was traveling back home that night and we planned to return the truck on the evening of 5/24 at this location. The employee said he couldn't do anything and told me to call corporate. I spent the next hour on the phone trying to find out how I can get access to a storage unit at the location. After speaking with several associates, some helpful and some not, the only possible solution was to get two 10x10x5 indoor units to do online check-in through in order to store all of our belongings and return the truck on time. I ended up having pay for one month of one of the units just so I could put all of our belongings somewhere to get it our of the truck. If we were able to get into the 10x10x8 unit that we were planning to, we could've stored all of our belongings easily and avoided a lot of stress. I returned the next morning to speak with an employee (and retrieve my ID which I left inside on the counter which I must've done because I was stressed) and the employee showed me that the other employee from the evening of 5/24 could have checked me in properly and didn't. I don't know if the first employee was just trying to get me out of the store because it was close to closing time or what, but it further irritated me that the employee from the previous day could have solved this problem but didn't. I would like to get refunded for the 1st month for the unit that I paid for if possible as I was planning to take advantage of the first month free for the larger unit and only got the two smaller units because I had literally no other option. I'd be happy to talk to a customer service rep on the phone to fully explain the story as I don't think this review did it justice.
