dwayne j | Overall ExperienceFraudulent Contract Creation, Improper Fees, and Threats of Lien — Request for Immediate Investigation I am submitting a formal complaint regarding serious misconduct at your U Haul storage location involving fraudulent account activity, predatory behavior, and improper fee threats. I officially moved out of my storage unit on June 20, 2026 at 2:05 PM, as documented on my Move Out Record and Invoice #[redacted]50 257831. Despite this, I continued receiving invoices and lien notices from the location. After multiple calls to national customer service, I was informed on August 6, 2026 that a new contract was opened in my name on June 22 — two days after my verified move out. I did not visit the location on June 22, nor did I authorize or sign any new contract. This means someone at the location created a fraudulent account in my name. I request that U Haul immediately review all security camera footage, signature records, and employee access logs for June 22. When I spoke with the manager, Paige, she insisted I opened the contract myself and threatened me with a $50 lock cutting fee, even though I was out of state on 8-6-26 (2 months later for work) and had no knowledge of this unauthorized contract. It is unreasonable and unacceptable to demand payment for a lock cutting fee on a unit that I turned over 2 month ago after the poor service received. The customer service agent who gave me my receipt said no further action was needed after moving out including the lock. I have attempted to resolve this issue through the national customer service line three separate times, yet no one informed me of the fraudulent contract or the lock cutting fee until August 6 — six weeks later. This location has demonstrated predatory behavior, poor customer service, and fraudulent account handling. I strongly urge U Haul to investigate the actions of the manager and staff, reverse all improper charges, remove all lien threats, and correct my account immediately. I also recommend that U Haul review this location’s practices to protect future customers from similar misconduct. I have retained all receipts and documentation. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
