My house is currently under contract and I am waiting for a closing date within the next week. I went online to secure a storage unit and have everything set up for that day, 01 Aug. I loaded some heavy boxes into my vehicle and went to the facility. Upon arriving, I was able to check in, but unable to access the key coded doors to the storage units. I also noticed a sign saying that the elevator was not working. I went to the office and they were able to allow me access to the storage unit section. I then had to hand carry / drag all of my heavy boxes to the 4th floor... 60 steps, each way. I received no help, which I feel like U-Haul should have contracted help there since the elevator is inoperable. I have many more items in my garage, that are heavy and I now have no idea how / what I'm going to do about that. I have to continue moving out of my house this week and have nowhere to be able to store my stuff now. Getting it to the 4th floor of the facility will be impossible without an elevator. U-Haul made no attempt to get me a first floor unit, or refund my money until they get their elevator fixed. They need to do better at getting their elevator fixed immediately, as this is a catastrophic failure on their part.

My experience was very disappointing. When I arrived to move my belongings out of my storage unit, the elevator was out of service. No one informed me in advance, offered any assistance, or even apologized for the inconvenience. I had to carry all of my boxes down the stairs from the second floor by myself, which was extremely difficult and exhausting. I expected much better customer service, especially since I was paying for the storage unit. I hope the company improves its customer service and has a better plan in place when situations like this happen.
