Gwendolyn TRelies too much on text messages! People who rent moving vans and auto transport are obviously on the road and not in the best position to read and in some cases have to respond to messages! I loved the one that told me to take a picture of the equipment before we left the lot and note anything damaged that I opened and read after we'd been on the road for two hours! The manager was right there when we left, he was showing us a couple of things about the trailer, he should have told us that in person. We must have gotten ten or fifteen text messages from U-Haul. Just unnecessary and distracting! Take care of most of it right there! Also we were asked to select the drop off place and the time we'd get there and I declined to answer about the time because how the heck could I know that without knowing about the traffic on the way, how long it would take us to load the vehicle on the trailer, since it was not driveable and the trailer was not equipped with a winch, and so many other variables. After all, the drop off location had hours 8-5, lots of leeway. But the office was closed when we pulled in at eleven on the second day of our two day rental. No telephone number posted, either. Fortunately another guy was waiting who knew the office guy and had already called him. We waited half an hour and it could have been worse, but we were tired and hungry. I am sure the drop off guy got a notice we'd be dropping off a van and an auto transport sometime that day, a Friday, a workday. Maybe he gets twenty text messages a day from them,. too, and doesn't read them! Somebody in management is not on it.
