Amy WI want to express my extreme disappointment with the U-Haul dealer at East Avenue Self Storage in Lincoln, California. From the moment I arrived, this guy was an absolute jerk. His attitude was rude, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional. I arrived to pick up my truck using U-Haul's 24/7 Truck Share service and followed the instructions provided, which specifically directed me to the 24-hour key pickup box. While I was trying to access the keys, he came outside and asked if I needed help. I explained that I was trying to pick up my truck, and after approximately five minutes of unnecessary back and forth, he finally told me that the keys were actually locked inside the back of the truck. Nowhere in the instructions U-Haul provided did it mention going to the back of the truck to retrieve the keys. Everything directed me to the pickup box. Rather than simply explaining that from the beginning, he acted as though I was inconveniencing him. Then he informed me that he didn't have the furniture dolly I had reserved. How does U-Haul allow an authorized dealer to accept reservations for basic moving equipment that they don't even have available? He then claimed he had called me the night before to notify me, which I disputed because I had absolutely no record of any such call. I even pulled out my phone to show him, and instead of apologizing or trying to resolve the situation, he became even more disrespectful. His solution was to tell me that I could drive to another U-Haul location to pick up the dolly. Seriously? Why should I have to drive around town to collect equipment that I specifically reserved through U-Haul? The entire interaction was unnecessarily confrontational, and his attitude was absolutely unacceptable. I'm not expecting special treatment, but I do expect basic professionalism, accurate pickup instructions, and the equipment I reserved. This individual demonstrated none of those things. Frankly, he was a complete asshole, and I don't understand why U-Haul would want someone like this representing its company. I would rate this experience ZERO STARS if that were possible. I strongly encourage U-Haul corporate to investigate this location, review how this dealer treats customers, and seriously reconsider allowing him to continue representing your brand. His behavior reflects poorly on U-Haul as a whole, and customers shouldn't have to put up with this kind of treatment just to pick up a rental truck.
